Monthly suicide rates in Japan increased by 16% between July and October 2020, due to a number of reasons attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Seventy percent of suicides in Japan are male, and it is the leading cause of death in men aged 20–44.

Yuko Takeuchi, from the films Ring (1998), Yomigaeri (2003) the actress did the voice of Joy from the Disney Pixar film Inside Out, FlashForward tv series, Queen & Miss Sherlock also died.
