Great, bozo discover solar flares... Step 2: register with nasa space weather mailing list.
At work in the 90 we had an old Palm 3x we used as canari in a mine. That thing was so improperly shielded that it was fully resetting at every medium solar event. Allowed to have a lot of troubleshouting session converted into "let's see what happens tomorrow". The team from human science labs were looking at us like complete hacks and we had to ask the old retired astronomy guy to write them a memo. Always fun to see him call one of the historian a "kid" because he was only in his 70' while he was in his mid 90'
Also, anything disturbed by solar flares is going to be completely fucked in case of EMP. Also, also, gps don't do well either (had locations errors between 1 and 10km). Glonass seems to be more resilient, can bet they built this with farming equipment spare parts too...

I have a compass app, where I can put in the GPS coordinates of where I want to go and it points in that direction all the time. Mix of Magnetic and GPS. Very good for the bicycle, so you can ride through back-alleys, playgrounds and parking spaces and such.
This worked very well, until I upgraded from my mama-chari to my e-bike. The Deviation is completely crazy, way more than in our car (no it's not a Chinese bike, it's likely very poorly shielded). Calibrating the compass on that bike while it's on doesn't help either. I have to switch the app into "car mode", where it only uses GPS, compass turned off. So if GPS goes poof, navigation is off the table and I would have to use my own eyes, which surely won't end well. I wonder, whether EV's have the same issue with compasses.
