Philippines is Emerging As A New Partner of Japan

Postby Takechanpoo » Sun Aug 20, 2017 8:47 pm

Japan and the Philippines will start designing the P227-billion Mega Manila Subway in November, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto M. Pernia said on Thursday.

"The subway I think is going to be the project of the century for the Philippines. Designing of that will be in November when Prime Minister Abe will come for the ASEAN Summit," he said in a press conference in Quezon City.

It will be a 25-kilometer underground mass rail system connecting major business districts and government centers. It is expected to serve 370,000 passengers per day in its opening year.

The subway train line is expected to be completed in 2024, said Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade. — VDS, GMA News

I think your title is arse backwards as to who is assisting whom.

Throwback to the last time Japan, Manila and tunnelling were in the news.

I'm sure the cost estimates are totally realistic....what with Japan's recent track record and all the amakudari factored in.

Meanwhile in Thailand...

the reactions of philippine people regarding what j-empire committed is a natural sample regarding how people reacts their past humiliating history if their government and medias have not propagandaed and trained their people into anti-japan direction.
just compare their comments with the ones of the certain nations people.

It's not their reaction to the shitty things Japan did to them in the past as much as it is with having to be reminded of it everywhere with those expensive statues that aren't really wanted/appreciated.

Matsuki, can you try to keep on topic? We are talking about Japan in the Greater East-Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere, not Confederate statues in the southern states of the US.

The one person I know that was trying to give me the whole "but these figures are part of our history!" was promptly shut up by "so by that logic, you're cool with Hitler statues in Germany?"

Gov't urged: Return Chinese MRT coaches, seek Japan help for new prototype
MANILA - Senator Grace Poe on Thursday urged Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade to return 48 overweight MRT coaches to China and seek Japan's help to create a new prototype.

The previous Aquino administration purchased the coaches from Chinese firm Dalian Locomotive Corp. for P3.8 billion.

....(Can we, once and for all, cancel the contract and have another prototype made? We are happy that Japan wants to help us. Why not get them?)
