American dies in Yokosuka fire
An unemployed American man's body has been earthed from the charred ruins of a home here destroyed by fire early Saturday, police said.

William Heath had been living in the house alone since the death of his wife.

He is believed to have been in his 50s.

Ah, let me guess....
Old wooden house, unemployed FG who hasn't paid rent for years...hmmm, sounds like a yakuza torch job.

Like so many others I have seen or met over the years I bet there is a major work of tragedy/comedy behind those few lines of news.

Who was he? Was he known by his neighbors? Why was he alone in the bath when the fire killed him etc etc.

The internet brings you so much but sometimes tells you so little.

RIP Fellow FG

Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it.

Kinda sad

Postby Marvin Feltcher » Sun Mar 28, 2004 7:32 am

This guy's end was really sad. I get the sneaking suspicion that it may have been a suicide, particularly as he was jobless and alone after his wife died.
Still, not a nice way to go.

"not a nice way to go"

If I wasn't such a lazy bum, I'd do the story. Fire is such a "not a nice way to go"]even though at his luxury condo for Thanksgiving dinner a couple of weeks before that I had regaled to him and his guests how I survived a 7-story fall window washing. [/i] Sheesh, some guys don't listen.

*Real name not changed to protect the anime-addled dreamers. Unlike the other sad FG stories, he was a CFO who owned free-&-clear luxury condo, spoke-read Japanese well, and had a beautiful-dutiful-but-dumb J-wife. Even with the "perfect" FG set-up, 30 years stuck in here in the Land-of-Concrete made him jump and die a lingering death in the hospital.
Reminder to FG wannabes: DO IT RIGHT IF YOU'RE GONNA DO IT.
