George W Bush's GABA commercial

Postby lupinthethird » Sat Apr 17, 2004 5:49 pm

See Bush promoting GABA by singing "You like fish, why not English" over at http://www.lee-chapman.com/tokyo_times/2004/04/bushs_japanese_.html

I prefer http://www.2dtv.co.uk/movie/arnie_and_bush.htm as a rather more accurate portrayal of the man.

 "I'm touching Bush."

I also like the globe behind Arnold; All countries except for the US are question marks.

Looks like some sort of freakish amalgamation of Bush and Harrison Ford.

I saw that GABA commercial in the movie theater right before LOTR 3.

That has got to be one of the most bizzare things I've ever seen. Very odd editing and kind of creepy. I'm sure because they were worrying about the flow of the Japanese subtitles and not the English. I just wonder why the hell that would make anyone want to study at GABA.

BTW, that second one is not a very good send up of Arnold. If there's one thing he's not, it's stupid.

His intellect really comes out in films such as "Terminator 3" (2003), "Eraser" (1996), "Last Action Hero" (1993) and his seminal work "Kindergarten Cop" (1990).

Vacant but Popular Actor -> Politician is a very smooth transition in the US of A.

I never said he was an actor with depth. But if you ever hear him in an interview he comes across as very intelligent and surprisingly witty.

Business career? What business career?

That's like calling David Beckham a businesman!

The political career works like this:

Become body builder. Don't say too much in case you blurt about your politically incorrect views on the opposite sex. Become actor for beefcake parts. Brief speaking roles due to heavy Bavarian accent. Simmer for ten years, make money on dumb but popular movies. Use money for election campaign. Ignore protests about past female groping incidents. Get elected!

oh, and err, occasionally get called an intelligent businessman by folks who confuse success through broad appeal with business savvy.

Arnold formed a long lasting business partnership with Jim Lorimer way back in the 70's. Together with Jim he was a multimillionaire from land investments in Nevada and California long before he tried his hand at acting.

His business acumen is very good indeed. He was always 'on the make' from day one.

I watched him train for a few Mr. Olympias and he was off-the-scale of intensity and focus. Winning one Olympia would have been a career for most people, he won several and as you know did quite a few other things (including marrying into the Kennedy family)

His book ARNOLD : THE EDUCATION OF A BODYBUILDER (which he actually wrote himself) is one of the top selling fitness books of all time.

Of course he screwed up mightily and lost big time when he bankrolled 'Last Action Hero' (which I personally liked)

Marrying a Kennedy wouldn't have hurt either..

before you all start screaming, I know they are on different sides of the politcal wasteland but political life is politcal life. The needs of fund raising, vote buying and campaigning are similar disciplines.. the faces and policies may be different but the method of getting elected is a constant.

He's sulking since Rob Pongi turned him down for the starring role in the "super-secret" remake of Ass-on-Film's Taco Bell Chihuahua, Man on the Street UNEMPLOYED.

gaba school tokyo teacher

Postby hidflect » Thu Jul 08, 2004 9:07 pm

Arnie (too drunk to spell his last name) has made more money in real estate speculation than he has from movies... in a place as dog-eat-dog as California! That's how dumb he is...

But the cabal of Tokyo Uni lawyers who own Gaba (the ultimately, legally-defined concept of employee abuse) don't need to worry about that. They know that pandering a stereotype to the masses never lost anyone any votes/money.

Sorry for resurrecting this long-gone post, but I was wondering if any of you fellow FG's still have the mpeg of this awesome commercial. For the longest time, I never realized I had saved only the streamed version, and now I can't D/L or stream any of them.

If any of you have it, please give me a shout!
