DVD recorder thief arrested after 17-hour chase in Hokkaido

Source Japan Today (haven't traced back to Kyodo source.. )

SAPPORO — A 34-year-old man, who was on the wanted list on suspicion of stealing a DVD video recorder worth 40,000 yen from an electric appliance shop in Sapporo in April, gave himself up to police Thursday after being chased by 18 police vehicles and two helicopters for 17 hours....


We have been laffing and laffing about this in the office.. (quiet day in the land o' keitai)

Those "vehicles" were probably bicycles. I definitely could see it taking 17 hours; that's a lot of pedaling on those white Bridgestones.

17 Hours!?!?

wouldnt you have travelled a fair distance around hokkaido after that length of time?

i assume he had time to refuel when all the cops pulled over for siestas or to watch a dvd or 3.. :lol:
