Yeah, I never understood the Right's obsession with the drug war, but turning a blind eye to gun regulation. They should at least be consistent.

Funnily enough I used to make them when I was about 12. But the capascitor takes an age to charge in a camera.
Am I still not allowed to have a sig?

I'd have to disagree with you here. Ceremonial swords scream "loser" to me, but that's just my opinion. Maybe Grandpa's saber from West Point is okay, but some white doofus buying (or worse yet, swinging) a samurai sword is just pathetic.

That said, back in the U.S. I have a M-1 Garand, with the firing pin removed (that's how I received it... maybe some day when I have lots of time and money I don't mind throwing away I'll have it restored), in storage. I can't believe men lugged that thing around... it's really heavy:

Historical value is the same as aesthetic value. I am from a millitary family remember. We have guns at home but they cannot be used. My father used to take my brother to the rifle range to practice... this is a skill in timing and accuracy.

Assult weapons are kept to make people feel tough or help the action-movie star fantasy. There is no skill or accuracy required...

Better to pretend you are a rock-star and sing in front of a mirror in your undies singing into a hairbrush. At least you will just be tragic and not potentially an accessory to tragedy.

Right, and I agree with that, I was just pointing out I find collecting in general distasteful, but even moreso when it's not your culture.

Maybe I'll change my mind in time, but I just can't help laughing when I see someone with swords mounted on the wall.

My friend has his own DoJo in Australia - he has swords mounted on the walls - along with a shrine.. It looks great. But then there are Shoji screens and a full Tatami room as well. Swords don't co-ordinate well with Ikea furniture that is for sure. But I don't have a problem with them if the person has a reason for them.

P.S. Do your rugby shirts count as a collection. jokes!!

Yeah, a collection of poor taste, obviously. Today I was wearing a suit and tie for a meeting (a rarity, I know!). ;)
