FG wins British Open Golf Tournament

Todd Hamilton has just won the British Open Golf Championship. He thought about quitting the game but joined the Asian tour and ended up a regular winner on the Japan Tour.

Q. How do you say the Honda Classic champion in Japanese?

TODD HAMILTON:I couldn't tell you. My Japanese language is very poor. For the time I spent over there, 12 years, I probably give myself a D or a D . I can read some of the writing but to speak it, I'm not very good at. Honda Classic Champion (speaking with accent).It's English but (Laughter.) I've got the accent down. I just can't tell you the word.

Hamilton to cash in on being big in Japan

Kosaku Shimada, the head of the Japan Tour, sent a letter of congratulations to the American within a couple of hours of his triumph.
He wrote: "I believe he had a hard time in a foreign country but he overcame it by winning four tournaments last year. Omedeto [ congratulations] Todd Hamilton."
