Policeman's 8-year-old son injured by gun in Ehime

MATSUYAMA — The 8-year-old son of a policeman was injured Sunday at a police substation in Ikata, Ehime Prefecture, after the officer's gun went off. The son of Toru Kakuto, 47, a senior police officer at the Yawatahama police station, was injured in the 11:45 a.m. incident and taken to a nearby hospital, police said.

According to the police, Kakuto found his son bleeding on the floor of the living room at the residential police post after hearing a gunshot. His elder 10-year-old son was also in the room and had been playing with the gun, which had been in a closet, when it went off. (Kyodo News)

Damn, I was about to flame the reporter who wrote this story since cops in Japan cannot/do not take their guns home at the end off their day. Now, what the oni is a "living room at the residential police post"? I thought my farm was in the boondocks in Ehime, sheesh. :P

A living room at a residential police post is a place where your children can play with loaded handguns. :P

Dang. Those cop kids have all the fun.
We have to trudge down the district police station to sign out the village shotgun. Everytime the neighbors start to blither about a bear in the coppice. Meh. I just throw rocks at 'em now (the bears and the neighbors).
