... One message reads: "Smoking is one cause of lung cancer. According to epidemiological studies, the risk of smokers dying from lung cancer is estimated to be two to four times greater than that for nonsmokers." This warning is followed by the address of the health ministry's Web site.
Another reads: "Although it varies depending on the individual, nicotine causes addiction to smoking."
Currently, cigarette packs in Japan carry two relatively mild messages on their side: "Be careful not to smoke too much because it may be harmful to your health," and "Be mindful of manners when smoking."
