You know, the thing that scares me is, that this has only just been reported.
The actual date the threats were supposed to be carried out was SEPTEMBER!

The message, which was written in English, threatened to blow up Tokyo Tower, Kasumigaseki, Akihabara and other places on Sept. 11. Police have charged the student with obstructing business of the company that manages Tokyo Tower.

Haha, I'm sure that kid had *deep* thoughts about how he would do it, and fantastically logical reasons to do it. Maybe something he saw in an anime once, and it totally reached him on a personal level... TOTALLY.

Another thought are the charges that are being made against him "obstructing business of the company that manages Tokyo Tower" (Eigyo bogai). Those are the very same charges companies try to make against unionists lawfully protesting against a company. This kid was making TERRORIST threats! The fact he did not carry them out has nothing to do with it.
Had it been a fucked gaijin who made the very same THREATS, I'm sure the authorities would have been making much more severe charges against them.
PS: Bobby Fischer has been in custody for a long time for much less!

Wonder if the targets that were mentioned actually suspended their business or if they just ignored it, not knowing if it was real or not?
I wouldn't put it past them to have ignored it totally and put the lives of thousands at risk by continuing business as usual.

Well, I wouldn't put it past them ignoring it either, what with all the idiots running around with signs like "FACK BUSH"... Just because it was the latest fad his girlfriend was interested in doesn't mean they can completely shut down normal business.
