Kyodo via Yahoo: Dealer gets suspended sentence over bicycles sold to N. Korea
The Hiroshima High Court sentenced a company president Thursday to a year in prison, suspended for three years, for unauthorized purchases of used bicycles and cars to sell to North Korea. The case earlier drew public attention as the bulk of the bicycles the defendant, Susumu Matsumoto, 43, had bought and sold to North Korea included ones stolen in areas of western Japan.
Matsumoto, a resident of Sakaiminato, Tottori Prefecture, and president of marine product import company Aomatsu Shoji, was convicted of buying 586 used bicycles and five cars without obtaining an antique dealer license from his business partners from July to October 2003
