Yomiuri: Prisons to get splash of color
Drab prison uniforms and bedding will be replaced by redesigned textiles in brighter colors in response to criticism from color therapists who said the current designs were depressing and would tend to make inmates aggressive...Inmates have been provided with the same uniforms--dark brown for men and grey for women--since 1966. Prison bedding comes with a pattern of wide red and green stripes. There is no known record explaining how the current designs were chosen, a senior Justice Ministry official said....The Justice Ministry was advised to add light blue, mint green and deep pink to the inmates' clothing and pajamas and to add warm colors such as orange and brown to the comforters and to make the stripes thinner.
