grr...

I hate shopping.

Unless of course, I'm buying technology....

I really can't stand fashion 'shopping' though. Gawd. That is one of the things I fear the most about going to Japan. I gotta job, I'm gonna have money, I'm going to be living in Tokyo... if my head turns at every window display flaunting the latest Prada goods... I'll just be destroyed! Don't let me fall into that trap!

Hrm. But as I read the article, I see that 109 is different.... heh. Weird.

For those of you in Japan...
Is it really as unique as the article makes it out to be?

I'm having a hard time not imagining it as just another 'gyaru' type trend.

Speaking of Shopping

Postby kamome » Tue May 07, 2002 3:49 pm

I have the exact infection that Harvey is talking about. With extra cash on hand, and living in one of the most fashion-conscious cities in the world, I went out and blew 3 man on an Armani shirt. I NEVER would have done that in the US. But there's something about living here that renders cash virtually meaningless. Savings? Hah! I have savings, but it's there just to buy the next electronic gadget or piece of clothing.

Man. that's seriously scary kamome dude.
$300 dollars on a shirt... scary. Man. I hope this doesn't happen to me! I need to shop at the hurugi stores or something and live on used clothes... but but... my surroundings! Can my mind really stand up to the mass marketing madness which is Tokyo!? What about my friends? I'm sure they're not going to help me stifle my feelings of lust!

Shopping craziness

Postby kamome » Wed May 08, 2002 12:18 pm

Well, I have to do everything possible to keep up with Mini-G's Power Move. If it takes $300 to get my hands on a shirt that makes me look good to chicks, I'd say that's a good investment. Of course, that comes from the mini-G school of philosophy, appropriately called "The Hooer Japonacis Zazen Kumiai". Ain't that right, MG, my brotha'?
