BBC: Hoy suffers nasty crash in Japan
Olympic champion Chris Hoy escaped with scrapes and bruises after a 65kph crash at Keirin School in Japan. The 28-year-old Scot, who has to attend training school before being allowed to enter the Keirin series, had already passed written and practical tests...Another competitor was forced into the path of Hoy, who was protected by the protective body suit Keirin riders use. His helmet shattered and his bike was also written off with the forks sheared and the frame bent, while Hoy landed heavily on his hip and elbow...Despite the crash, Hoy he expects to be fit for Friday's first race of his season in the Kawasaki Velodrome near Tokyo.
