Question about being IP banned on boards.

Ok so ive been banned on a IP banned from a forum. the Ip address was from my home computer.....
does anyone know how i can get rid of that problem ?

The normal comment would be something along the lines of 'don't crap where you eat,' or in your case don't post from home.

I don't know how you connect to the internet, but if you're like most people, you have a DHCP connection through a cable modem. Try to "renew your DHCP lease" which is usually accomplished by a power-down reset of your cable modem, or can sometimes be done with software utils. Sometimes the new lease will assign you a new IP. Sometimes it won't. Eventually you will get a new IP anyway, most DHCP leases are only a few weeks or months long.

In other words, IP bans don't work.

On Firefox you can set up proxies where you don't have to go through another site. Or you can go through anonymous or something like that, google proxy

You could always try TOR.... a la the EFF. It's slower, but it's the best, kinda like cooking at home if you take the time to figure out the fucking recipe.

YOu need a program called "Stealther" Works perfectly and I don't care how many times you get banned, the ip's continuously change so you should have no issue.

PHPbb can be exploited and the database wiped, that will end the blocked ip list.

there are a number of sites which allow you to re-route through their connections while they generate random IP addresses for you to post through

However if that forum banned you for using the word 'Cunt' without warning I doubt its worthwhile posting there again

Ummm, 'he who pays the piper calls the tune' seems only fair seeing as how the site admin can be held responsible for post content. But maybe I'm wrong...
I should claim the right to post whatever nonsense I wish on someone else's board. And so what if the site has rules on posting - after all, they don't apply to me. Besides, that site admin is just an 'egotistical fuckwit' for seeking to manage her own site by 'banning' me. Ooooh, the outrage - I feel perfectly justified in trying cripple the site.

I have been "banned" from one site. But I am back on. I use a couple of proxy hiding software.

1) http://www.megaproxy.com
2) http://www.amplusnet.com

amplusnet is a trial and lets you surf until you use up your bandwidth. However, just keep an icon on your desktop and when it runs out just download it again. Takes about 15 seconds.

So if phpBB can be exploited and the database wiped (and we've seen what a hassle it is when a forum goes down) are there any protections a mod can take to prevent that? Is there any safer forum software out there (and are they free or as functional as phpBB)?
