I can't say I have heard that rule before.
But I do know that more than 50% of the marriages in Japan are work related in some way.

Out of the 9 Gaijin who are working at my company... 9 of them have gotten married to women at the company...

I guess its just too easy to get a woman from work... Unless of course you go out with one, and then break up with her, in which case you are off limits forever...

Yes, I've seen a few office marriages in my company. The Japanese keep it 100% discrete until after the wedding happens. Not even close colleagues know when their friend is dating another co-worker. One lovely girl in my office told me she was planning to quit in order to work for her father's company and to marry a college boyfriend. I found out the truth way after the fact: she actually left because she was dating a co-worker and they had already planned to marry.
