Taking the Blame

Postby Mulboyne » Mon Jun 13, 2005 1:53 am

I thought the original story on the girl falling from the coach had been posted here but I can't find it...

Asahi: Road rules
He was on the verge of being labeled a criminal, the perpetrator of an act that left the crushed body of a 12-year-old girl on a highway in the middle of the night. Unable to dispel the hit-and-run allegations, the man drove down a forest road and then burned himself alive in his vehicle...The double tragedy started around 1:50 a.m. on March 26, when Misato Kokubo...apparently began suffering motion sickness while on a sightseeing bus...She opened a window, but fell through and landed on the busy Tomei Expressway. She was then struck by several vehicles that were trailing the bus. The results of an autopsy indicated that the injuries she suffered from the fall would have eventually led to her death. But doctors said she was alive before she was hit by the first vehicle. For that reason, Shizuoka prefectural police investigated the case as a fatal hit-and-run accident...more...

I can't say I know what's going on there either. It's from a "Aggression" by a manga "legend" called Yaguchi. I've had this link for a while now, thinking I'd use more on the board here to illustrate stories. But I keep forgetting.

Hmmm, I wonder what would have happened in the Real World to the hit-&-run driver? A guy with no previous criminal record would end up pleading down to "Leaving the scene of an accident" and receiving couple years of probation, right?

I can't even begin to imagine the anguish that truckdriver felt. I once accidentally ran over a cat and felt lower than shit for a day or two. If I'd accidentally hit and killed a person, It'd be all over, I'd have a nervous breakdown.

One of my old japanese friends dad told him, "if you hit someone, make sure they are dead". I think he said that because if they live but are invalids you are responsible for life.
