Debito reinvents himself as a Uyoku movie star!

Postby Taro Toporific » Fri Jun 03, 2016 8:07 am

Spotted on reddit.com...
debito.jpg

A semi-documentary centered around a Caucasian expat who believes himself to be a member of the Japanese ultranationalist right...
...after receiving a blow to the head, wakes up believing that he is a member of an ultranationalist right wing group (the "uyoku dantai"). An idealistic amateur "director" (in the scheme of the mockumentary) is making a documentary film about this odd character because he believes that it will propel his own filmmaking career towards prominence. As the director and his subject's views begin to diverge though, things begin to fall apart.
“Go! Go! Second Time Gaijin” is a story about identity, delusion, myopic nationalism, ascendent conservative trends in Japan...

Kickstarter
---Go! Go! Second Time Gaijin by Primolandia Productions
gaijin-speakerman-kickstarter.jpg

Note: This does not seem to be a joke or somebody taking a piss on Debito. Primolandia Productions is associated with a 5 year old twitter account and the movie has IMDb preproduction listings.

That sounds about right: quirky and childish without managing to be funny, stupid enough to interest the man himself. Echoes of that comic book he wrote. Amateurish dorkish humour with a touch of Napoleon Complex.

Can you go on Kickstarter and campaign against them being funded? That would be good fun.

I'm a lazy protester. I am just satisfied with looking at the fact that with 34 days to go before their funding closes, they have raised only one third of a percent of their target, in a meet target or get nothing campaign.

It looks like a project to satisfy someone's fetish for grainy footage of Mishima.

Yes, and probably wiser than kicking up a Debito duststorm. But we can dream that their dream will become a nightmare, or at least a grave disappointment.

In truth, more power to them if they want to do something creative, but do it with your own money.

As a platitiude, sure, but there'll be no sincerity from me. Indulging your own stupidities is not an admirable endeavour in MYHOMO: the whole project sounds stupider than an elementary school play. I noted in the explanation they even managed to slip in a definition of Gaijin as both "derogatory and ethnocentric". This reads like a Soviet propaganda piece without the ham handed artistry and unintended comedy.
Seconds on the source of finance: I haven't stopped laughing at the very idea of Kickstart and the other electronic begging sites. The simple and quiet joy I get from my younger soccer buddies talking about "good" Kickstart projects is truly a blessing...........and it's free.

Dr ARUDOU is promoting it on his blog, so it is real.

Hey, the guy has lots of time on his hands now, what with difficulty finding any work. He needs a hobby, playing make believe with an organisation all around him involved in production will make him happy, and God knows he needs cheering up.

What gets me is that almost every kickstarter funding I see is no more than just presales, not an investment offering a share of returns. You put in $40, and you will get a digital copy of the movie. Great. I'll wait until you make it and watch it on youtube for free thanks. Sorry, you're too cool for youtube? Vimeo then. Of course, most of these projects won't make a profit so there will be no return on investment, but at least pretend to be generous and inclusive!

What amuses me most about e-panhandlers is that the platform itself creams off a nice percentage, for being nothing other than a domain name with cool photos of ethnically diverse celebrities on the splash page. Just look at those terms and conditions one day. They are not alone. Nice work if you can get it.

But even if you put a block of cheese on the head of a house cat the rate of inflation will likely remain unchanged.

The clear star that is yesterday is nonsensical, much like me but the clear star that is yesterday wants to go to hell. A glittering gem takes the world for granted.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

For a personality known for throwing literal fits over political correctness, Debbie sure comes out as a hypocrite. Again.

" oooh la la ... foreign Japanese right-winger!"

He forgets the significant chunk of right wingers including its leaders who are ethnic Korean...

If he wants to declare " but we mean WHITE!!!" then he needs to stop throwing screaming fits all the other times he gets identified or what's that word? "micro penis molested" as a cockasian.

It's about ten years old but in enough there in Engrish to cross-check for the latest:

Going gangbusters! Now has over 1% of target funding!

I just noticed:
REDACTED "THANK YOU" CREDIT

Any amount will get a personalized thank you, but for just $50 you immediately get your name in the "Thank You" credits of the film. Unfortunately, your name must be redacted to protect you from any possible reprisals.

We will thank you in the credits individually, but your name will appear as a black bar.

This film was crowd funded, the donors names are on the end scroll.

Quirky is not a word I would ever use to describe Davy. Prodding, heavy handed, earnest would be closer to the mark.

Yeah, but it would be funnier to do it all right on the site in full view of Les Artistes themselves. Is Japolojisms Havill's rebuttal blog? I had forgotten all about that one. I just looked, and it seems he's given up. Which shows there is still hope for Havill. Nice qualifiers about LeDebit. You win. I think I borrowed that from Hijinx' defence of le Dr. DA. He quite liked him for some reason. I supoose mutual hate of the place that made it all possible is a tie that binds.

Japologism was not Havill, although he did comment occasionally. Even a "just had a look" would tell you that.

Would it? Apparently it didn't. I even spent 3 or 4 seconds looking for the About page. But apparently it speaks volumes to you. Even though it needn't. I see patterns, you know. Even when they aren't there.

Even a J-school trained Canadian know who's who in the "I am pissed off enough at Debito to provide a platform for others with the same feelings" field.

That J~school trained Canadian also made a point of finding out who their employers were.

That J-school trained Canadian wrote all about it in their Investigative On-line Magazine blog.

That didn't stop that J-school trained Canadian for posting under numerous sock-puppet noms-de-net on the site, to the extent that at one stage, during a tennis tournament, posting from entire countries in the Gulf region had to be blocked.

What a wardog!

Yep, one person has applied for the $1500 Associate Producer package. I don't see this getting to the $12,000 goal in the time remaining, so no great risk to that person -- you don't have to pay if the goal is not reached. Less than 20 people have made any pledge at all.

About the only risk they face is if a whole heap of other people join him in the joke, in which case they do all have to pay.

Three grand will do it.
Pledge $3,000 or more

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER CREDIT

You are clearly someone with an agenda, so by all means, tell us what to do. Whatever you want, we'll just grin and bear it. This also includes an IMDb credit (or page if it's your first) and invitation and involvement with all elements of the film -- to shooting, screenings, premieres, etc.

It reminds me of the movie Indecent Proposal. Everyone has their price. For this money, you can tell them to buy no storage media so no film goes in the can (to use an old technology metaphor).

Ooooh. Oooooh. Damn that's attractive. So, this rider about not paying your pledge if the goal isn't reached: how is my pledge enforced even if it is? Credit card number? This could be a worthy prank. Credit card companies are quite amenable to challenges to charges of late. Probably not worth the hassle, but it could be good fun.
