New Brand of Coca-Cola, "C2", Coming to Japan Firs

Postby kamome » Thu May 20, 2004 5:39 pm

I hate Coke and all other carbonated beverages, but this is interesting:

Coke to launch mid-calorie cola in Japan, U.S.

Coca-Cola will launch a new mid-calorie version of its flagship cola brand in Japan, followed by the United States this summer...the new drink, Coca-Cola C2, would have about half the calories of Coke Classic and other regular colas, the Atlanta-based company said. An eight-ounce serving of Coke Classic has 100 calories....the drink would make its U.S. debut on June 16...

:? I just seem to remember the Coke Co.'s track record with "new" products. New Coke Any one? As an informed observer to the drink industry, if they can get a market first it will sell. but a sales package based on LO Cal........ pointy stick and steep inclines come to mind.

Just my 2 cents

I hope it's better than Vanilla Coke...

:puke:

This is loosely related, but today an Italian classmate of mine was standing next to me at a vending machine looking at the coke and said "Hmm, I feel like cock." We had a nice laugh about that...

I just wonder why anyone would ever drink a diet Coke or a "half diet" Coke and think they are doing themselves a favor. No matter how many calories are in Coke, it has a bunch of other crap in there that's bad for you.

Anyone heard of the experiment where someone put a coin into a glass of Coke and the acid in the beverage completely eroded the metal? If someone has a link, it would be interesting to read.

nutrasweet in general is bad for you... it's worse than real sugar is. I have pretty much given up soda... i drink beer, fruit juice, and water instead.

I enjoy the following combinations:

3/4 Diet Pepsi +

1/4 Regular Dr. Pepper
OR
1/4 Code Red

It's a nice soft drink that's not too sweet
and it doesn't make you feel like injecting
insulin right after you drink the soda.

I don't drink Diet Coke because I think I'm doing myself a favour - I actually prefer the chemically taste. Can't do the Real Thing though now.

COKE
No wonder coke tastes soooo good:

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol
carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood
from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke
and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into
the toilet bowl and.....Let the "real thing"
sit for one hour, then flush clean.
The citric acid in Coke removes stains
from vitreous china.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with crumpled-up Reynolds Wrap
aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals.
Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble
away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth
soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for
several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola
into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum
foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before the ham is finished,
Remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for
a sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of
coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent,
And run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will
help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road
haze from your windshield.

FYI:
1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric
acid. Its Ph is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail
in about 4 days.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the
commercial truck must use the Hazardous material
place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to
clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years
Still Want To Drink Up?????????

Well, coke certainly has become the focal point of many an urban legend. Too bad all these myths one gets to hear about coke's magical properties are mostly utter BS, and yet so few people realize it.

Not that it's a really nutritious beverage or anything, but spreading blatant lies--like the above quoted e-mail--about a product (even if it comes from yet another "soulless" company) is pretty low.

Both my doctor and my dentist tell me to give the stuff up.. but, not because it'll dissolve a nail or even a t-bone steak. The sugars are bad for teeth, the caffeine is bad for blood pressure. At least, that's what they tell me.. eh, screw em.. I'll quit when I find something more convenient to drink. (not that I haven't tried.. I just lack will power.)

FYI from a lapsed soft drink maker

Postby cliffy » Sat May 22, 2004 9:28 pm

Cola has no citric acid, shit loads of caffine, but it's acid is phosphoric.
Yes the cola concentrates are listed poisons in the CONCENTRATED form.
Vitamins in the same concentrations are also toxic, just remember that!
Sea water will dissove an iron nail too, also fresh water.
I won't go on but I won't be able to convince the cola hater element of anything (I once showed a cola activist how and what made cola up, no use, still claims cola is toxic blah, blah...) but Coke is still the best mixer for rum, pepsi/RC just don't work as well imho.

drink enough cola, and you get cavities between your teeth... stop drinking cola before it gets serious, and they go away. I have replaced cola with beer, fruit juice, and water. The alcohol in the beer acts as a weak mouthwash... my teeth are healthy as they were when I was a little kid and brushed 3 times a day :P

And replace that alcohol with green tea, and you will not only have clean teeth from the astringent juice in there, but you will also cut out that beer gut (although I'm not claiming to have stopped drinking beer or cut out my beer gut, but still...).

Cavities are not a major problem for your teeth. Your saliva and enough liquids can wash away most sugars on your teeth. What will cause your teeth to fall out, as my dentist keeps reminding me, is gingivitis. If you don't floss and don't brush, the bacteria builds up between your teeth and gums. Then you can just say good-bye to all your teeth.

beaver c2

Postby omae mona » Tue Jun 08, 2004 9:38 pm

Mrs. Omae Mona just came home with a bottle of C2. I took a sip and thought "This is a marketing ploy!! It tastes exactly like regular coke.. they didn't change anything!". Then I remembered the point was that it's half the calories. Not too shabby.

If I start drinking this, then maybe I won't have to go on the masturbation diet.

I had a bottle of C2 last week since Mrs Taro is in the biz. I thought it taste the same as Japanese "Coke Lite" circa 1990s. But who cares?! According to our own Marvin of the FG, fat is fab.

Coke Lite was my main caffeine source here in the late 90s, but I actually thought this C2 was a lot closer to real coke. Wasn't Coke Lite sweetened with stevia? Then again, I am not sure I have the most discerning palate. Maybe this is why I seem to be perfectly happy slurping gobs of natto ("tastes just like chicken!!").

Tasted it last night and i tend to disagree. It doesn't taste like regular coke, it's close though. In fact it's exactly how the commercial said it's gonna be: It's a regular coke with less sugar.
So i'm thinking, it could be better to mix that c2 with alcool rather than the regular coke, alcool being sugar and all..

Cuba Libre, that is Rum-n-Coke, is poisonous with Diet Coke. Maybe C2 has some value as a mixer.
