.....tortured Bobby Fischer at Narita

Postby Taro Toporific » Fri Jul 16, 2004 1:10 pm

July 15, 2004
....Bobby Fischer's scrofulous website has just added the news that he has been detained at the Narita airport in Japan. ....
Bobby Fischer wrote:"The World Chess Champion Bobby Fischer has been viciously attacked brutalized seriously injured and very nearly killed when he was illegally detained and arrested by the Japanese immigration authorities at Narita international airport in Tokyo Japan. Also the Japanese immigration authorities at Narita international airport have illegally detained Bobby Fischer at the Narita airport jailhouse.
Furthermore in collusion with the U.S. government the Japanese immigration authorities have confiscated and destroyed Bobby Fischer's U.S. passport. Bobby Fischer is still in jail at Narita airport in Tokyo Japan. Bobby Fischer does not wish to return to the Jew-controlled USA where he faces a kangaroo court and 10 years in Federal prison and a likely early demise or worse on trumped political charges. Nor does he wish to remain in a hostile brutal and corrupt U.S.-controlled Japan.
He urgently requests at immediate offer of political asylum from a friendly third country. Any country wishing to offer Bobby Fischer political asylum should do so immediately
http://home.att.ne.jp/moon/fischer/

Who'd think that Bobby Fischer would end up a freak wasting away in Japan ranting pro-Hitler pro-911 Holocaust-denying troll (his mother was Jewish, but he denies it)???? I've hard that Fischer Nazi bend to chess that according to Kasparov is a game where your "ego must destroy your opponent's ego" but WTF.

I'm a chess player. Bobby Fischer has had a sad life. I'm sure the same thing that made his brain into a chess machine is responsible for his weirdness. I can condemn him no more I can condemn a blind man who bumps into me on the street. I truly pity what his life became.

(my rating is 1550 so I suck, but I can probably beat you!)

Here is a good article http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/2002/12/chun.htm

Ok, I'll ceed you in chess: I lose at tic-tack-toe.

The Atlantic Monthly wrote: ....He began worrying about the purity of his bodily fluids. ...

.... Would Fischer be able to beat a top grand master in an FRC match today? Doubtful. He played numerous FRC games with Susan, who concedes that the results were "mixed." She isn't optimistic about the prospect of a Fischer comeback either. "He's not that young anymore," she says.

This may explain why Fischer now lives in Tokyo, where chess buffs are virtually nonexistent and he can live in complete anonymity. He walks into bars unrecognized and converses with women who have no idea who he is. "Bobby has always liked Japan," says Larry Evans, the five-time U.S. chess champion. "He likes their subservient women." The culture, too, is a draw, according to Harry Sneider. "Bobby loves Japanese food," Sneider says, "the great mineral baths, and the electronics." Others, however, insist that Fischer chose Japan for a different reason. "Bobby needs to be in a place away from the Jews," one woman says.
But Tokyo is only a home base. Fischer spends much of his time traveling around the world, spreading his gospel of hate....

.... Fischer... has a girlfriend—Justine, a twenty-two-year-old Chinese-Filipina living in Manila, who couldn't care less about chess and has no intention of writing a tell-all memoir. And Fischer is now a parent: Justine gave birth to a baby girl in 2000. Fischer's fatherhood has until now been a well-kept secret, shared by his Philippine friends, who hope that this child will fill the void in Fischer's life that chess once occupied.
But their hope appears to be in vain. Fischer is a far cry from being a doting papa. According to one source, he "regularly sends money to his girlfriend and child" but visits them only "once every two months."....

....As for Justine and his daughter, they appear to be an inconvenience, a distraction best kept at arm's length. Once one of the most famous men in the world, Fischer is now nothing more than a ghost—a shrill, disembodied voice heard only in faraway countries.

I met and played Fischer several times when he gave demonstrations in England during the seventies. We talked about Japan and other things. At the time he struck me as someone on his way to consummate weirdness.

No doubt that his chess was awe inspiring. Some moves took your breath away. He wasn't just in a league of his own, he was in a universe of his own. He had no-one who could give him a serious match. His games with Boris Spassky were more mind game than chess game.

I have no understanding of what happened to him in later years. Just that he obviously went off the deep end and started swimming down. It was sad to see for all that he once was and all that he could have been (sort of like George Best without the drinking)

Whatever has happened at Narita is probably just another chapter in the disintegration of the legend of Bobby Fischer.

Well I'll say this much for him, he ain't afraid to speak his mind. You can listen to an mp3 of that radio show on Sept. 11 on his site. You know, having radical views doesn't make someone mentally ill. I think that Atlantic article makes a pretty big leap. I'm sure the reason they want this guy put away isn't because he played chess in Yugoslavia 12 years ago. He's smart as Hell, obviously, he's a world class stratagist and he wants to see America 'wiped-out'. Can you say Unabomber meets bin Laden? I don't know about yall but I feel better with this guy put away.

Man, its so 2001 to want to destroy the USA.
Besides, the US needs enlightenment, not destruction.

Why don't they start some "radical" group hell bend on reforming the ways of america, or something truly shocking. Any ol' nutjob can try to bring US down. Basically, when a trend hits the streets of islamabad, its time to move on anyway.

:) Yes but chessplayer are besides from their addiction just like ordinary people. Most players are not disturbed, and most of the disturbed ones are not excellent players like Fischer. The old 90-day visa scam still works?!

Postby Taro Toporific » Sat Jul 17, 2004 12:04 pm

The old 90-day visa scam still works?!
This just gets funnier and funnier....

Chess Champ Without a Country Is Jailed at Airport
U.S. exile Fischer's next move is deportation from Japan and arrest by U.S. marshals for 1992 warrant
LA Times / 6:52 PM PDT, July 16, 2004
....Fischer has yet to hire a lawyer to fight deportation proceedings stemming from the Japanese government's contention that he entered the country with an illegal passport, said Miyoko Watai, a friend from Tokyo's small chess community. Watai, who said she had known Fischer since 1973, said he phoned her after being taken into custody, and "the problem is he doesn't trust the lawyers."

....The chess master has been reclusive but hardly impossible to find in recent years. His peripatetic lifestyle -- shuttling between his base in Tokyo and outposts in, among other places, Hungary and the Philippines, where a daughter was reportedly born in 2000 -- implies that he frequently passes through immigration controls.
Going along unimpeded, he bragged to a radio interviewer in 2002 that the "U.S. hasn't got the guts to catch me."
"They could have arrested him anytime, anytime since 1992," Watai said. "Since 1992 he has traveled all over without trouble." The difference now, she argued, is that "suddenly he starts to attack America. He made the American government very angry."
Officials at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo refused to discuss Fischer's case Friday, citing privacy laws, although they confirmed that he was being detained by the Japanese. "We don't prosecute people for their political views," one American official said privately.
Yet the sequence of events concerning Fischer's passport status raises questions about Washington's interest in the former chess champion, Watai said.
Fugitives may not be issued a new American passport unless it is used to enable them to return to face trial. Fischer, however, was issued a new passport in 1997 by the American Embassy in Bern, Switzerland -- more than four years after the warrant for his arrest was signed, according to Watai.
That passport was revoked in a letter sent from the U.S. Embassy in Manila, dated Dec. 11, 2003, said Watai, who added that Fischer never received it. According to the document, which Watai posted online, the passport was rescinded on the order of the State Department in Washington.
A Japanese government document also posted by Watai indicates that Fischer's passport was accepted as valid when he entered Japan on April 15 of this year on a 90-day visa. That permission was rescinded retroactively only when he was stopped on his way out through Narita on Tuesday.

In Tokyo, Fischer was in the city he was most likely to call home at the time of his arrest. He has lived in this sprawling metropolis of 13 million intermittently for several years, blessedly anonymous in a culture in which the Western version of chess remains a specialized taste.
It was a perfect hide-out in broad daylight for a man who shuns attention.
"He doesn't like to see people," Watai said. "Friends? Almost none."

Will Fischer be extradited?

Postby Taro Toporific » Tue Jul 20, 2004 2:18 pm

There's no news about what has happened to Mr Fischer but this info has filtered out showing court records ....

Will Fischer be extradited?
19.07.2004
Chessbase.com
Chess legend Bobby Fischer, the hero of millions, languishes in the detention facilities of Narita Airport in Tokyo, waiting for a decision by Japanese Immigration authorities on his deportation to the US. We have collected all the documents and reconstructed a timeline to his arrest....

Fischer Mania
hessninja.com/ July 16, 2004 ... It looks like we're going to have to live with Bobby Fischer in the headlines for a while, unless the media storm around his detention in Japan dies down very quickly. He'll either be extradited to the US and prosecuted or given his own talk show or both.....
Who knows, maybe this could be the best thing for him. Instead of being paraded around by exploiters/enablers like Philippine Grand Master Eugene Torre, Fischer might get the treatment and reality check he has needed for years. I'm sure a nice Jewish doctor can be found to administer the medication and shock treatment. .....

Chess legend Fischer complains of rough treatment in detention: friend
AFP / 22 July 2004 1449 hrs +9 GMT
TOKYO: Chess legend Bobby Fischer is "totally worn out" after more than a week in Japanese detention and has complained about rough treatment by immigration officials, a friend says.
"I'm sorry for him as he is totally worn out under detention," said Miyako Watai, a personal friend of Fischer who met with the chess master Wednesday at the detention house at Tokyo' Narita airport....
Fischer complained immigration officials had "covered his head with a bag and treated him roughly," in the process of detaining him she said, adding he had struggled with the officials.....
Fischer has appealed to Japan's justice minister against the deportation process, she said.
"He has lodged a protest, arguing he has done nothing wrong," she said. "He is now considering what to do next."
If the minister accepts Fischer's argument, he will be released. If not, immigration inspectors will issue a formal order for deportation.
The immigration law does not specify a time frame for the process. Cases are often settled in days, but can also drag on for weeks.
An official at the Narita immigration office declined to confirm the appeal by Fischer....The official also refused to comment on the alleged rough treatment, saying it was policy not to give details on individual cases.

Maybe we should tell them that they only have 48 hours because as we have been told the law is very clear and not at all confusing. :D

"Bobby snared by the Japanese 'Chess Police.' "

Postby Taro Toporific » Mon Jul 26, 2004 3:01 am

Check! Your move
Morning Sentinal: July 25

..... You can bet Tom Delay and Dennis Hastert aren't going to let this go. In these testy times, you can bet this administration isn't going to let this hot item pass. Can't you just see the Rose Garden speech now as if it were really happening? "My felluh Amuricans ... we have not found the weapons of mass destruction. We have not found Osama bin Laden. But you can all sleep sounder tonight knowing this. We have found Bobby Fischer, whom I have added to my list as the fourth in my 'Axis of Evil.' Mr. Fischer, international chess fugitive, is in custody and being sent, as we speak, to Guantanamo Naval Base, where he will be treated under the accords of the Geneva Convention. Mission accomplished."
Ask yourself this in the same scenario. Will John Ashcroft find evidence that Bobby Fischer met with al-Qaida and Iraqi contacts somewhere in Europe? Will there be an Iranian connection? Was Bobby somehow implicated with Ken Lay? Did he once date Martha Stewart....

....

The irony of having Japan arrested and detain Bobby Fischer for spouting anti US vitriol on the radio in the Philippines (invalid passport not withstanding) while at the same time feting as a hero another US citizen who did the same thing in North Korea might somehow be getting lost in all the hoopla.

The answer is of course for Bobby to get married to one of the Korea returnees and for Jenkins to apply for asylum in the Philippines.

..but nobody listens to me.

Note: If the press can somehow Peru dictator/ fugitive Fujimori involved in all this then it's a clean sweep for 'things I will never understand about Japan's legal system'

narita detention center B4 conditions:

Postby torasan » Tue Jul 27, 2004 2:45 pm

Now, regarding Bobby Fischer's detention room at Narita Airport,
here's the inside skinny so to speak. Bobby-san is in the B-4
underground level of the Airport complex, and he is in a room with 8-9
other detainess, some of whom will leave for the home countries soon,
others who must wait for a papers to be completed before then can be
deported. Bobby is in a room that has a tatami floor, and there is a
clean toilet in the room for all cellmates to use. He is fed good
Japanese food three times a day, large helpings of rice, porridge,
fish, meats, vegetables and soups. Fruit too. At lights out at 9 pm,
he must sleep on a futon on the floor with the other cellmates, and an
electric light is on all night, according to inside sources who know
the set up there. The guards are friendly but firm. They feel sorry
for Bobby but they are following orders and if he gives them any
trouble, they will handle him that way. If he gets too rambuctious, he
will be put in a straitjacket room and kept solitary and incommunicato
until he decides to be more friendly. However, for now he is in the
main detainee room, green walls, tatami floor, toilet and a slot for
food to be passed in to the men there.

There is no exercise there, just the detention cell. If he stays for
more than 20 days, he will be taken to Kosuge Jail in downtown Tokyo,
an hour from the airport by prison bus, where he will be roped to
other prisoners, er, detainees. His hands will also be cuffed to the
bars behind each bus seat. At the Tokyo Detention House, or Kosuge, he
will be kept in a solitary cell, toilet inside the room, big enough
for a futon on the floor and that's it. A window, barred of course,
will give him a view of the inside courtyard with trees and grass. He
can hear the birds singing in the morning.

At deportation time, Bobby-san will be taken back to Narita Airport B4
level, and processed out. He will be escorted by two immigration
policemen, with his hands in handcuffs, yes, but there is a polite
blue cloth covering the handcuffs so that passersby and passengers in
the public terminal on the ground floor of the aiport will not SEE the
handcuffs. But they will see Bobby in his humiliatin, escorted by the
two beefy immig cops, all the way to the airplane that will fly him
back to the USA. He must return to USA, period. He cannot be deported
to a third country. He is heading to the USA, period.

At the boarding gate for the internatioinal flight home, Bobby's
handcuffs will be taken off and he will invited to enter the
airplane's cabin. If he doesn't enter, there could be trouble.

Everything you ever wanted to know about Japan, it's prison system and the non Japanese currently held in prison here.

 http://www.phaseloop.com/foreignprisoners/prison-japan.html

It was the Asian OE that went terribly wrong. Ruth Laugesen talks to two Kiwi English language teachers who ended up in a Tokyo jail.
For Rebecca Malthus, 28, and her newly arrived friend, Gina Smith, also 28, Tokyo was a glittering, humming world away from the usual Kiwi OE pilgrimages to grey, familiar London. Little did they know their excitment would turn to terror!
After their arrest on drug possestion they were initially told they would be in custody for a day or two to answer questions, the women had in fact entered a state of judicial limbo. Under the "daiyo kangoku" system of imprisonment without trial, prisoners can be held for interrogation for 23 days without charge, without being offered bail, and without proper legal representation.

Tokyo Detention Centre

"When you leave Tokyo Detention Centre you are not a human being. If you have a dog in your house you don't treat it like this....They do terrible things - I will never forget what they did to me as long as I live," said an Egyptian man who spoke to Amnesty International after his release. He described how prison guards stripped him naked, kicked him hard in the abdomen and sexually assaulted him with a truncheon, while he was held in solitary confinement.

Looks like there's going to be a press conference at the FCCJ first...

"Free Bobby Fischer"

The "Committee to Free Bobby Fischer" and the Japan Chess Association will hold a first-ever press conference to present the entire case, itemizing (with full passport documentation to be circulated) the specific violations of Bobby's rights under both US and Japanese law. They will report on Bobby's condition and the objectives of his worldwide defense effort. The Committee is now preparing a Provisional Release application and if it succeeds, Bobby Fischer is to attend the conference in person. Speaking for the Committee will be former No. 1 Shimbun editor John Bosnitch, who has been intervening as advisor at the deportation hearing. The Japan Chess Association will be represented by its president, Ms. Miyoko Watai, who has also been attending the hearing.

Who is this Bosnitch fellow?

Postby torasan » Wed Jul 28, 2004 3:36 pm

Who is this Bosnitch fellow hooking up with the Fischer Circus now?

Linda Sieg, in a Reuters report from Tokyo, says:

"Former world chess champion Bobby Fischer has asked to be released from custody at a Tokyo detention center in the B4 level of Narita Kuko while he appeals against a Japanese move to deport him, a longtime Tokyo resident and Serbian- Canadian who is "advising" Fischer says.

"He has asked for provisional release, which is discretionary, but which we would hope for immediately," John Bosnitch, a Tokyo-based Serbian Canadian "communications consultant" and NHK-TV-radio staff journalist, told Reuters on Wednesday. Bosnith formerly worked for Yellow, a porn magazine.

One can only guess that Bosnitch must have contacted Fisher at Narita
after he
found out the Fischer was in trouble for visiting Yugoslavia at a time when
U.S.
citizens were banned from visiting there under U.S. sanctions against
Milosevic.

Bosnitch is a Serb before he's a journalist or
Canadian, according to some.

What a pair though! Let's see if the media picks up on this twosome!

A crackpot chess wiz antisemite from USA in Narita detention cell ....coached and advised by a compassionate Canadian legal expert .....who is married to a Serbian.

But I guess anyone who's reduced to taking legal advice from a legal expert like Bosnitch deserves
at least a little sympathy.

Let the FCCJ roll! Let's roll, boys!

And Miyoko Watai is another great specimen of Japanese humanity letting it all hang out! Won't wonders ever cease?

When I saw this in the morning, I tried to read John Bosnitch's writings such as "Western media lies. Dang...Bosnitch just would not come out and make his point other than he was pissed off at the NYTimes.

As far as Miyoko Watai "letting it all hang out," you got my hopes up that she was hot and also formerly worked for "Yellow" magazine.
