GP Forums Closing. How welcome are GP-fugees?

Is it the weekend already? KY used to be complimentary at the registration page.... hmmm. Must already be redirecting funds towards bandwidth due to the infux.

Niko, I agree with a lot of your characterisation of the FG community. But I think it's always been dynamic, and personally I'm not necessarily opposed to things getting shaken up a little from time to time.

1. Most of us have been here in Japan quite a while. Personally 12 years in Dec.

Which means you were here about 1 year when FG was born (if I remember dates correctly). Believe it or not, the place did not suck entirely when we were younger and smarter than we are now. There's been a constant inflow and outflow of users (except Taro, who's like the Akiko Wada of FG, but cuter). Lately the community seems to have solidified with more longer-term residents than recent arrivals, but it hasn't always been that way.

2. I'm not sure if any single one of the long time members is an English teacher. If they are they are good at it and a pro.

We've lost quite a lot of regulars since 3/11, but there have been quite a few English teachers that have been great, major contributors here in the past. But I think you may be right... not too many left.

3. Most of us are respected professionals of some kind or another.

I had some doubts about my host club career, but thank you for the endorsement!

Come to think about I actually fit a lot of this criteria and never realized why I like this place so much.

This is probably a touch dated, but it's like a cross between the high school Audio-Visual Club and the Dungeons and Dragons brigade with some weirdly inventive in-group code but sans the abject nerdiness.

Tenga Flip hole, Flip Air, yes, easily goes into the dishwasher.

Tenga 3D handwash only. Since you reverse it for cleaning, no point in putting it to the dishwasher...

Also, never use WD40 for lube (i was told)

I still get internet-culture shock with the way people from the western world joke with each other but I'm slowly but surely learning the ropes and hopefully develop a thick skin in the process. All I need to master now is to read who is joking and who are just a$$holes.

Welcome Dango. This site is probably the worst when it comes to culture shock, but believe me most people here have hearts of gold.

And if you can survive here, you can survive anywhere in the western world.
