And you are promoting a shareware hack for sandboxing on windows 7 ?
At this point I think you are just fucking with me for the lulz...

THE TOPIC IS ABOOT LOVE HOTEL YOU PATRONIZING MORON

I did not start talking about security tools in this thread, so your anger might be misdirected.

There is no need for that, there is meanwhile the possibility to do it, that's what some other people do... who can then report bugs... who can then be fixed...

Your arguments lack all consistency. You use untrusted software all the time, yet you blow a fuse when someone recommends software you are not familiar with?

I think you might want to come back when you reach puberty, simple check, look down there, when it get's hairy you can comeback, it's not Digg here, dismissing people as fanboys is not a instant thread winning argument.

Yadda, yadda. And this isn't slashdot circa 1999, so you might want to start using critical thinking skills when discussing security in Windows systems.

And you are promoting a shareware hack for sandboxing on windows 7 ?

Again, you have no evidence that it is a malicious program, that is bad at performing its stated job, no firsthand knowledge of the application at all really, and your attitude towards Windows security is, let's say, juvenile at best. How many of those open source projects ask for donations? You keep referring to it as shareware, like it is a scam. Sandboxie is free software. The only shareware aspect to it is a message asking you to contribute, basically what every open source project does on their homepage.

Windows -anything- for task where you require some safety is like that 10 $ hooker at the corner in Johanesbourg... a big gamble.

Pure argument form ignorance. I, Coligny, don't know how to make it secure, so it must be insecure. Your belief that Windows is inherently insecure, that it is a "big gamble" to use Windows on a day-to-day basis, is just pure unadulterated ignorance.

To bring it back around on topic, I once ran out without paying at a Love Hotel...but the goat I woke up next to was left to foot the bill. I have no idea how I ended up there with a goat but being blood related might explain it.

Whatever you do...don't get sloppy (so to speak) and take the complimentary lighter home with you by mistake only to empty your pockets into the key/coin bowl upon arriving home, then have your wife tidy it all up for you and enquire as to where you collected the "Hotel Felice" cigarette lighter. Golden advice gents!

Kino. Shut up please.

Windows is like a screen door on a submarine: It lets in all sorts of shit you don't want. Sure you can make it secure, but the time and effort you take to do it could be better spent, especially in a corporate environment.

And you're arguing with a Frenchman. English is not his native language.

SAY IT'S THE CAT SHEDDING...

Cat's... saving your ass one lame excuse at a time since... the Pharaohs... at least

And just for the Lulz... I had several MCP certification for Windows 2K back when I was doing Cisco IP Phone call center deployment. (the cisco software PBX was working on top of a W2k server with active directory integration... It was madness pushed to a Lovecraftian level)

I guess that is the difference between you and me. I actually have to do this for my clients. Telling them, "Oh, you use Windows, well fuck off". IT isn't a solution. It isn't even a coherent statement. It is juvenile fanboyism. It is as dickish as saying to teenagers, "Sex is wrong and condoms are evil so you should just remain abstinent". It doesn't solve anything. If you want to criticize someone's recommendation for software, do it on the merits. I'm not telling you to use Windows. I'm not saying that Windows is more secure than Linux. I'm saying that there is a tool that can help you mitigate the risk of malware on Windows. Use it if you will and understand the risks.

As for him being a Frenchman, perhaps I shouldn't be surprised he fled from the argument at the first sign of conflict. Ah, no, that isn't fair to the many brave French people who have fought and died over the years.

Saying, *hyuck* *hyuck* Windows can't be secure so you shouldn't even bother *hyuck* *hyuck* just highlights your ignorance.

Agree with this part though, many people have to use windows and though I have been an apple/unix user for over 30 years (first was ][+ in the 1st grade), if you are gonna go MS at least do it safely. The analogy of fucking a whore with bleeding sores all over her body without a condom does come to mind...

Looks like I stirred up a lot of dust by inadvertently getting infected with some rogueware. And it wasn't even SDH's fault.

Hey guys, I already resolved it by running a scanner over it... guys...hello?

Not fanboyism, waste of time, I have seen 2 schools of behaviour:
Zee "it's not because you're not part of the solution that there is no money to be made from the problem"

And the "Call me back when you really want to get job done"

Being able to support all 3 OS at a time were Macs were a dying breed and Linux still a bit in infancy (ok, to be honest I was more a NetBSD guy back then, that sh1t would run on anything...) I was obliged to often decline new customers for schedule reason. For those who were Mac or Unix shops with some specific tasks handled by windows machines (countless labs analysis machines, medical imaging or special microscopes were windows only) it was ok with specific conditions, restricted accounts, no net access. But for the people who were just throwing money at their problem of bad choice "windows, everybody is doing it man..." it was no go. Didn't prevent some macrovirus problems on the mac thanks to Microsoft, but still more easy to manage...

I came across that too recently. It's easy enough to clear provided you have the tools such as Malbytes and the previously recommended cleaners. Best solution is to shut it all down, and restart in Safe Mode, run all scanners and delete all running processes that look like jumbled numbers and letters. If you google MS Removal Tool, there are also some links that show you registration codes in case you cannot delete the actual program without entering a code.

Best of luck!

Gave a red snot, got one back...but still Kino, nowhere in the thread was anyone asking for a sandboxed or "safe" environment in which to run processes on their computer. You took it upon yourself to foist your preferred solution onto us and then started to rip into Coligny.

Sandboxie is software specifically designed to prevent drive-by-malware attacks and that is exactly the type of attack mentioned in this thread. I did not suggest it is the only security software you should use (see the "also" in my first post), I have not raved about its qualities or suggested that anyone who doesn't use it is "technically insane", I merely offered it as an additional form of protection. If that is "foisting" a "preferred" solution onto you, then I'd suggest you grow thicker skin.

As for launching into Coligny, I'm fairly certain he gave as good as he was getting, so no need to paint him as some kind of innocent victim. Forum debates get heated, I try not to take it personally.

Kino, what you must understand is that there is zero fanboyism here. We're too damn old for that. I do this shit for a living for a Japanese company and I must support Windows, different flavors of Unix and Macs. As well as other stuff. Just chill out and get the convo back to...
