Are you kidding? This will boost his popularity more than ever. Not only is he having a go at coddled pen pushers, he is totally ignoring the fundamental problems facing Osaka in favor of spewing out meaningless bluster against a powerless foe and appealing to the base Japanese yearning for authoritarian leadership.

The eta is only doing this purely because he's a populist, much the same as Blinky does with his xenophobia.

No, no, no...While I'm far from exonerating the elderly, this cuntry's youth are much more nationalistic than their forebears.
I remember the rabid nature of the bubble era nationalism, but at least it was overt then. Now, it's sneaky and insidious, hidden by the anonymity of the Internet and raising it's head in nasty and intimidating ways (like picketing kindergartens and demonstrating against schoolgirls).
What's more, at least the elderly have something of a sense of shame about what this cuntry did in the past...the young deny it.

Osaka police admit hiding 81,000 crimes to clean up image

Osaka police have admitted they did not report more than 81,000 offenses over a period of several years in a desperate bid to clean up the region’s woeful reputation for street crime.

The revelation came when embarrassed authorities said they had kept the data out of national crime statistics between 2008 and 2012.

The deception, which amounted to nearly 10% of all crimes in the area during that period, meant that Tokyo appeared to have the worst national crime figures.

The vast majority of covered-up crimes were for theft—including tens of thousands of stolen vehicle and bicycle cases—but hundreds of more serious offences such as muggings and even murder may have been omitted from official crime data, the Asahi newspaper reported.

The force’s top brass denied that they had ordered underlings to hide the data, and nearly 100 officers were reprimanded over the deception, they said.

But lower-ranking officers have told major media that authorities were under heavy pressure from a popular regional politician to change the city’s image as a hotbed of criminality.

Finally, something "positive" from Hashimoto. Discussion with right-wing anti-Korea group leader gets completely out of hand...

this shouting guy is truly a piece of shit.

btw guys do you know some of main members of Zaitokukai are from Unification Church?
UC had been a mastermind of Z-Korean Uyoku since post war, which pretends to be extreme right winger and fabricate racism, in other words 自作自演.
Zaitokukai's style is very the same with them.

Now in the WSJ: http://blogs.wsj.com/japanrealtime/2014/10/21/hate-speech-debate-gets-ugly-fast/

Hate Speech Debate Gets Ugly, Fast

It was billed as an “exchange of views.” But Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto and the leader of an anti-Korean group nearly had an exchange of fisticuffs in a debate about hate speech.

Mr. Hashimoto is known for his outspokenness in public. Last year, he made headlines with his statement that comfort women, women coerced into performing sexual services for the Japanese military in World War II, were part of a “necessary system to maintain military discipline.” That comment drew widespread criticism and dealt a blow to his once-rising political fortunes.

His foe in the debate, Makoto Sakurai of the Zaitokukai group, is also known for attention-grabbing antics. The group fights against what it calls “special privileges for Japan’s Korean population,” and it regularly engages in rallies and protests in Korean neighborhoods in Japan–activities that Mr. Hashimoto and many others in Japan have described as racist.

Pictures taken of Zaitokukai members with cabinet member Eriko Yamatani drew attention earlier this month. Ms. Yamatani said she didn’t know the identity of the people in the pictures.

As the YouTube video shows, the face-off between Messrs. Hashimoto and Sakurai turned ugly all too quickly.

From the start of the debate, Mr. Sakurai used disrespectful versions of the word “you” to refer to the mayor. Clearly irritated, Mr. Hashimoto replied, “Lumping together races and nationalities together and judging them—I want people to cut it out with those kind of statements.”

“So, you want people to stop criticizing Koreans at all?” Mr. Sakurai countered.

That prompted Mr. Hashimoto to also refer to Mr. Sakurai with a less-than-respectful form of the word “you,” saying “Annoying. You. You’re a nuisance.”

Shouting “What the hell is that,” Mr. Sakurai rose from his chair and began striding towards Mr. Hashimoto’s seat. That led security to physically draw the two men away.

Mr. Hashimoto said, “I can’t forgive the likes of you,” to which Mr. Sakurai responded, “If that’s the case, let’s fight like men, one on one. What’s with the protection behind you?”

Later on, Mr. Hashimoto said, “We don’t need racists like you in Osaka.”

If being racist means lumping together a group of people and judging them, then “Aren’t all Koreans racists?” Mr. Sakurai retorted. He also criticized the mayor for “rejecting freedom of speech.”

The debate ended abruptly with the two telling each other to go home, and, as Mr. Hashimoto left the room, Mr. Sakurai shouted insults at the mayor. The exchange lasted less than 10 minutes.

The zaitokukai don't deserve any kind of "freedom" or publicity at all. I can't even imagine how they managed to get a public meeting with the mayor (even if that mayor is Hashimoto). The zaitokukai, and especially Sakurai, are just pond scum representing the stupidest of the stupid. The fact that Hashimoto gave them even a second of his (and his constituency's) time doesn't speak well for him either.

Not saying "it never happens," just that the tough guys  here usually end up in ridiculous "ore ore" shouting matches rather than actual fights. (not that I want to encourage fights but if you're going to go as far as to stand up, make a scene, and talk shit/make threats...yet not actually make good on them, you're a fucking pussy)

One man's "pussy" is another man's (albeit still probably an asshole) "neither-in-jail-nor-dead-still-able-to-pay-rent-and-feed-the-family".

Love how gaijin trash think that actual beatdowns resulting in actual bodily harm, medical bills, jail time etc are more legit expressions of disgust, outrage and anger than machismo on show. Pitbulls or peacocks.

Yeah, I'd rather live with the latter too. Gimme "ore, ore! kora!" over "Fuuuuccckkkk, me mate's on the ground bleeding out!" any time.

That's how most fights in America end too, dipshit. Violence is still the exception not the rule even in the land of freedom, guns, and Jesus. Yeah, yeah, we know. It was different where you grew up.

I have always found most Americans much less inclined to actually punch it up than any of Us Other English speakers. Canadians aren't English or Australian by any means, but it used to surprise me how many actual punch ups there are that started like these little poseur MMA stand offs.

Having said that, and always having had the blanket Stay Out of Jail Free card at hand (and a healthy bit of luck, no doubt), punching right wingers is fantastically therapeutic.

Yeah, on my one and only trip to Canada besides airport transit, I was surprised at just how pushy and aggressive the locals were in bars. And this was in Whistler Village of all places. It wasn't just me either. I was escorting a group of Turkish and Mexican international students on a ski trip and they said they'd never experienced anything like it. I definitely got the impression that if I said anything, it would lead to a fist fight so since I was working I kept my mouth shut. A Canadian guy told me later it's because there are a bunch of rich entitle pricks up there that have no fear of getting shot like Americans do. Not sure if I buy that theory but I liked it.

Eeeek. Whistler is exactly what I had in mind. I half grew up there, and if there is one true thing about that place, it's that the village is a shiiteshow. I think the lack of guns is a definite factor in all the non-American examples, but depending on where you were, I highly doubt they were rich; just entitled and prickly Angry White Men, probably on speed or other powders. If anything, in my experience, they were locals, which means small town Shitsville doughnut munchers moved to Whistler to Party! Party! and most of them bring a subliterate anti-American and Furriner chip on both shoulders. You should see the looks I get when they hear me speaky my Ching Chong China Japanese

Whatever has happened there over the last 10 or so years, it is now officially a land of 2 solitudes: successful professionals that don't work in the local economy but live there or visit regularly and the tourists on the one hand, and a troglodytic underclass of grossly tattooed MMA worshipping service industry plebs with awful facial hair choices that despise the first group for their education and success. We leave the village bars and clubs to the plebs. It's easier and it helps to drain their savings and keep them poor and on the service industry chain gang.

Funny how prevalent that notion of Whistlerites as rich is, though. If there is a harder place to make and keep money I can't think of one. If anything, like I said, most Whistlerites are undereducated Shitsvillers from the crap parts of Canader that move there for 3-5 years, develop an expensive habit and then move back to Twatsburg to dry out and repair their finances. As a town, it's a service ghetto for white trash.

Between you and Kuro, that pretty much describes the bar scene across much of the country.
