I get what you mean and agree in general, but I fear you overestimate the extent of that tolerance. As with most Japanese social mores, it's about context and propriety: Pron Stars on TV doing a dog and pony act? Sure, the more the merrier. Pron Stars working in regular jobs in the neighbourhood? Not so sure. As a rather extreme example, you've heard of the cases of ex-Pronners found to be working with children at nurseries and elementary schools and such, yes? The reasons given for the firings were the morals issue, specifically the concern for the corruption thereof. Whether you or I agree, I am arguing that most Japanese would at least acknowledge it as a concern. If I remember, 2 or 3 had only ever done touchy rubby solo videos, IOW, Gravure shoots on video, and not a full Tokyo Hot/Ippondo No Holes Barred extravaganza.
