Well thats cause for some reason the option to study them is not really given any notice. I don't know about Japan, but in the US prisons are run by friggin Corporations. One here in Oklahoma had a gripe with a local phone company and was threatening to shut down so the local gov stepped in and made the phone co fix the problem...the prison shuts down in 3 months. Prison (here) isn't about the prisoners or society. Its about making money. Prisoners in one state are contracted to pack futons, and in another take calls for magazine orders. Its utter bullshit. Try and make a living and the gov't and industry shit all over you...break the gov't law though and you get 3 squares a day, a roof, clothes, a college education, cable TV, medical, dental...all for FREE!!!

And my friend wondered why I wasn't worried when we got in serious with the law one time...

The Beheader will be released Feb. 2004.
This "Tosser" will get the same deal: Youth camp until he reaches 20 yrs and then parole/release. Hell, he'll be out before I can escape Japan Inc.

Update on The Chopper

Report: Japan to Free Child KillerThe Associated Press
March 6, 2004--
A youth who decapitated a boy and bludgeoned a girl to death in one of Japan's most notorious juvenile crimes will be paroled after spending more than six years in a reformatory, a newspaper reported Saturday.
Authorities are "making final arrangements" for the release of the 21-year-old, who was 14 at the time of the killings in the western city of Kobe in 1997, the Yomiuri newspaper reported, citing unnamed sources at the nation's Justice Ministry

If I were the parents of those kids, I'd find that little bastard and take him out. With a car, weed eater, slingshot, bare hands, whatever it took. He'd be pushing up daisies within the hour of his release.

They were relased a couple of years ago. And yes, they were given new ID's as to prevent people from hate motivated attacks.

Bet the little bastards won't even have to put their criminal records on future job applications. I'd be pretty pissed off if I had a business and hired a convicted murder who got to legally lie on his resume. Worse yet, I'd probably get sued for firing him because of it.

Hmm... I'd have to choose car over weed eater, slingshot, or bare hands :D

I wonder what the going rate for a blackmarket Winchester Model 70 in Japan is?

In Japan decent 45 cal auto from the Philippines costs only $600 now down from $3,000 in the '80s. The bullets are the real problem: an extra clip with bullets almost doubles the price of an automatic in Japan. Go figure.

$600 for a 1911 magazine? You can get them in the US for like $8 each!

And I thought $150 for a legal 16-round 9MM Walther P99 magazine was high...

Or am I taking your wording wrong?

It can be nearly $600 for al 45cal clip full of fresh ASP ammo. Guns, because of huge drop of Yakuza membership, have become cheap but ammo is dear. Holster wear, rust, lack of ammo are the major issues here according to what my Tokyo Philippino friends a few years ago.
