They even tried to make me pay for it.. I laughed as hard as I could and went on to some other place. :D Fuck them.. my money spends just as easily elsewhere.

What would be funny is to protest outside of these places with a lot of other fucked gaijin, with signs and shit. Call the mass media, and get them down (if they'd come at all). I think that would be a riot and might change the attitudes of a business owner.

Imagine the US/UK/Oz, etc.. refusing service to "orientals" because they are asian...

Discrimination is discrimination even if it is 1% or .0001%... And my point about the language issue is, if indeed it is the language issue, having an Engrish, Chinese, or Russian sign up, would solve the problem.

It has to be a hatred toward foreigners. And citizen or no citizen, discrimination is the same. We should treat all people equally regardless.

well done with that restaurant. good thinking. I would not leave straight away. but then again i would not eat and pay for their shit.

I went to a Milky Way with a mate. This skinny little J guy in the next table stared and continued to stare even when I looked over at him. I didnt know what to do.....I was unsure if he was starring to be a cunt or what. Anyhow I smiled at him and winked. Anyhow he looked away and laughed at these two middle aged chicks he was with saying "arent gaijin scarey". With that I was that close to getting up and smashing the living fuck out of this cunt. My mate (1/2 whitey 1/2 Japanese) helped me to calm down. Unfortunately due to my business and life in Japan I am unable to do shit unless ofcoarse in self defence. This guy didnt know how close he came to living in hospital for the next fucking 12 months.

That is the other thing. I think Japanese are pretty naive. In other words stupid. They do shit like that. Also like refusing people.
I tell you those same people dont want to fuck up in my country with the wrong whitey.

I have said this in the past to people and perhaps on this very board and to the real estate agent that refused an apartment (and later gave it to me.....actually this happened twice to me and I again ended up getting it) and that is that the Japanese have no right to be racist to whitey. I mean for fuck sake if it wasnt for us they would still be playing in their rice fields. Life would be TOUGH. They would not have a refrigerator to cool their fish....a car to enjoy their drives.....no ketai....no computer.....no nothing. I like and respect most Japanese. I think many of them are great people. But for those that want to get racist with me ill get racist with them and FUCKING WIN.
For the record they have no right to deny to any race.

I have had countless experiences where "cunts" come into a restaurant and look at me like I have bacon wrapped around my cod and peacock feathers growing out of my ass. Friday this happened at a yakitori joint I, my wife and her father were eating at.

I think it is curiosity for the most part. But the way they stare, at least from my interpretation is rude. They seldom do it to each other (again from my observation). But to gaijin I think they think it is different or something. Like social rules don't apply because we are not Japanese.. (works to our advantage in some cases and not in others like this one)...

Oh well, let em look. I look back and act wacky sometimes if I feel too much jirojiro.

yeah there arent many that do that. And there are many kind Japanese that will go that extra for you cause you are a Gaijin. But again there are those fuckers that will give you a good stare. Have you found it is mostly guys? I have not experienced too much of the chicks giving me a bad stare. Usually the Oyajis and then a "few" of the younger blokes. My wife is very good looking and I think they hate it when you are with a J chick, especially if she is nice. But again not as if all Japanese are like this.......just the few. But they stick out like dogs balls in the moonlight!
Thing is if you confront them about it they will deny it and twist it as though you are the bad guy. actually that being said I remember this one time I went to a convenience store to get some water. There was this yankee ( you know the tough boys that dye their hair blonde...... ) anyhow he was with his girlfriend and was walking in front of me outside the conveni. He looked back and looked at me and said something to his girlfriend. They both looked back and he started to laugh. I was pissed. And thought when I see him in the shop if he does it again I will have a go at him. Anyhow when I got to the cold drinks he was there with his GF and walked away laughing. I went up to him and asked what he was laughing about. He was acting tough and saying he wasnt laughing at me. Total bullshitter. I told him to be a man and just say he was laughing at me to my face. He started to be a smart ass (slightly...but not enought to knock him one...) and with me knowing there are security cameras I had to be carefull. Anyhow I did push him and invited him outside. He bought his shit and came outside but not to fight. Not that I wanted to to be honest cause of the LAW, but I didnt also want to walk away from what I believe is FUCKED. I said to him "you dont want to have that attitude if you were to go overseas. How would you feel if some white guy laughed at you cause you were asian?" he then said "I dont want to go overseas" (your typical yankee low life that thinks Japan is ICHIBAN and has the J flag sticker on his HOTTED up piece of shit of a car....) I then said "well you dont want to cause with your attitude you wouldnt come back alive. Besides you probably couldnt afford it"........
and with that we departed our own ways.
My parents came over. After walking around town by themselves they said to me "Cobra, they Japaense dont like us do they?". They were only here for 5 days. I actually felt pretty embarrassed for the Japanese. But again not all Japanese are like that.
But when you think about it how many people come over and get that feeling? I worked with the Grand Prix and everyone who came over wanted to get the fuck out. The Italians actually said to me to my suprise "Cobra...why do the Japanese think they are better than us?!". ( in the Italian accent). Not just you Big Booger but everyone I know gets the same feeling. Even if just staying a few days.
Funny how Koizumi said he wants to increase Tourism. Will never ever happen. Never.

They're fucking bumpkins, that's why (as my wife puts it). A more charitable interpretation is, "they have island syndrome".

Yokohama is a lot better... once in a while I get stared at, but you can tell that those staring are fresh-off-the-boat inakamono visiting a large city for the first time.

Same thing right?

No, it's absolutely not the same thing. Blacks did not voluntarily hop on an airplane and fly to another country. They were forceably removed from their homelands and forced to work building the country. The USA built their success off the backs of the Africans. Similarly, current immigrants, such as from Mexico, perform essential functions for America and the country could not function without them. They are an essential part of American life and came there with the understanding and expectation that they will receive equal rights.

Nearly all gaijin in Japan, however, arrive voluntarily, and nearly all from places where they already had enough to eat and a place to live. They are not coming to Japan out of necessity. And they are not (or shouldn't be) under the impression that they will be treated equally to native Japanese. They can make a choice whether they wish to move to that country and take what it gives them, good and bad, or they can stay the fuck home.

Considering that, is it totally unreasonable for Japan to say, "hey, we'll let you come work here and take our money. But that doesn't mean you are going to get the same rights and treatment that Japanese get. We are going to be suspicious of you because you have not been raised in our uber-structured society and do not know all our stupid little rules for behavior. You are different and we don't have much different here. We are a tremendously homogenous country, perhaps the most homogeneous in the world. Therefore we can't bother ourselves to adapt to the special cases of a variety of people who as a group make up less than 1% of our population. You're on your own, good or bad. Now, still want a work visa? "

maraboutslim your argument was well thought out, but it's still a smoke screen.

People deserve to be treated like people. If Japanese tourists were barred from entering stores and restaurants in San Francisco your tune would be different, you'd be outraged.

And overall I felt I was treated pretty well in Japan. I mean, sure, some things sucked but none of them impacted my ability to have a good life. Most of the things that bothered me and eventually drove me home to California (for the time being anyway) are things that the Japanese themselves suffer through as well. We're all FuckedHumans in Japan.

I might. But only because we here in America stand for equal rights for all. We've agreed as a society that its the way we want to approach life. But if another country wants to distinguish between the rights of citizens and natives and guests, it just doesn't bother me. I can always avoid the place.

In the end, we need to realize that being denied access to one onsen out of thousands is not the end of the world. Having a little more gaman and a little more "sho ga nai" is simply an easier way to get through the day than Debito's approach.

I am not saying it is the same thing in the term that we have to pick their rice for them! I am not saying its the same as the black civil rights movement. How could it be? how could anyone say that? What I am saying IS when there is a sign reading "NO BLACKS" in a bar in the US and then there is a sign in Japan reading "No Foreigners" it is the same. And the reason for doing so is also "similar". Blacks did cause lot of trouble in the old day (still do.....), not all.....but a great deal. They were not welcomed in white establishments AS whites were not welcome in black establishments. I am not saying this is how I wish for the world "to hate" however remember there are two sides to a story. Now with regards to Japan and the Gaijin it is the same in the instance in Hokkaido where there are Russian Sailors acting like fuckwits taking advantage of the Japanese weak traits of not being able to stand up and throw a trouble maker out. To be honest I can understand actually say in a port area or an area in Hokkaido where there are lots of Russian Sailors and establishments not wanting them in IF THERE IS EVEDIDENCE THEY FUCKED UP. But im not really rooting for that. Its the rest of Japan. Its the many people like "big booger" who get treated like shit that fucks me off. I can tell you of a million stores where some pretty bad shit has happened. I friend wanted to buy a car and was chased of the car yard by an Obasan. He did nothing wrong. Nothing at all. Now sure we dont have the Japanese version of the KKK lynching us but WE DO have to go through shit day in day out.

"Maraboutslim". Yes your argment is thought out however once taken apart and anylised it is partially flawed. Yes it is our choice to Japan.(most of us) but I could use the same argument for blacks. It is their choice to venture off into white towns and communities and establishments. They could have stuck to their own communities. Again I AM NOT saying it is the same thing but merely making a point.
My parents wanted to come to Japan to see their son, daughter in law and grand daughter. They didnt want to come to Japan as a tourist. They dont give a fuck about Japan. (I dont mean to use such hard words as they were interested in the culture however the main reason to come was family). But they were treated like crap.
I can tell you if in Australia we treated tourist like the Japanese do we wouldnt have a tourist industry!
Now that thing in San Fransisco about the Japanese Bath Houses and the poofs sounds pretty shitty. But what do you do? ban poofs from coming in? How about having a members only situation. and then having rules for membership. you can always get around that shit.

Some of the Japanese who do treat us like shit do not have a right to do so. We did nothing to them. We brought them the way of living they love so much. They come to our countries and we welcome them. Sure this is their country and YES we have to obey their laws. I am not saying someone from Amsterdam has the right to grow dope plants in Japan.
He as well as every other foreigner has the right to go to a fuckin restaurant with his family without being treated like a piece of shit.
And the next time a cunt does this I will go off my fuckin tree. I WILL BE RACIST and tell them how it is. I will give them a taste of their own medicine. Only mine works better!

But again and I stress this Japan is not like the old South in America. On whole there are many good Japanese who treat me well. Just as there are bad Aussies who treat Japanese bad. My wifes friend in Australia had a beer can thrown at her head from a car with the offender saying "fuckin Jap go home".........pretty tough isnt it!
And then the situation with the 7 foot redneck starring at my wife and daughter with hate.
