What's the cop on the left trying to do? Salute you, land a karate chop on you or attempting to stop you from taking his photo?

I told him I was taking a photo. It was at the end, yeah, he's giving a salute - I guess for being somewhat cooperative.

They're not allowed to do bag searches either, but good call. Last time I was stopped on my bike I talked about this with the cop and he almost shit himself when I mentioned taking legal action (regarding bag searches).

By the way, I saw bag searches being conducted in Machida not long ago too. They didn't bother with me though, I guess I didn't fit the profile.

Back when I lived on the other side of town a few years ago I had to go through Shinjuku pretty often. I saw Chinese people getting stopped and having their bags searched on a pretty regular basis between Higashi Guchi and Kabukicho. I never saw it happend to anyone but Chinese people. They must have been profiling.

Thanks Mulboyne. I can't seem to use a proxy; here's hoping it appears on youtube, et al.

SJ. You know books like that and ones by the Sagawa kid and others piss me off to no end. These dudes do the most dastardly crimes and turn around and make huge bunches of money off book royalties. Consequently, they can in turn use that dust to buy themselves more legal representation and appeal time. It sucks.

But what pisses me off the most is that the blame for their screwed up market rests with us. Being the morbid mother fuckers that we are, we're the ones that buy that trash and aid and abet these cock sucking vultures by leering at their so-called "diaries."

He could donate the entire proceeds to the family, but then again the J-Courts may take that as showing "remorse" and "trying to make things better" and in the end give him a lighter sentence even though the fucker confessed in the book to murder.

A book by a Japanese man accused of killing a British English teacher in a 2007 crime that riveted Japan and how he evaded capture by police for years is selling well less than a month after publication...Despite having no pre-publication publicity, "Until I got Arrested: A Memoir of the Missing Two Years and Seven Months" has sold more than 100,000 copies since coming out on Jan 25, said publisher Gentosha. "The book was published without warning, but we have been getting a lot of inquiries and the book has been selling pretty well," said Yoshikawa Nao, sales staff at the BOOK1st bookstore in Shibuya, an area of Tokyo popular with young people.

While the book does not dwell on the actual murder or motive, Karasawa says it contains grotesque passages where Ichihashi describes how he mutilated his face to change his appearance.

...at least now we know why the book is selling to the youngins. DIY plastic surgery is sure to take off in Japan.

With before/after pics like this, I kind of doubt it...
