My interest is in why the story suddenly disappeared. It was a big flap there for a while, and then it just went away.

My concern is that the guy was found to be totally innocent and nobody bothered to say "sorry," or even "whoopsie."

The media were all over him. The sudden silence is just spooky.

The incident occurred in March, and the article you linked to was released in October(?!).
It's not clear when he was arrested, only that the police are pretty sure that the child died of being "violently shaken," that they are accusing the guy of doing it, and that he denied it.

You forgot part of this - media is only interested if it makes average J-folk look good or foreigners look bad. If it had been a J-person arrested but not charged overseas for the same thing there would have initially been all sorts of coverage for how the justice system in ABC is so different from Japan and confusing for J-folk, then after the person is released there would have been all sorts of stories about it and how the person was always totally innocent and didn't do anything wrong. Never would have seen their face or name at any point either.

Chinese and Korean women can be attractive but they're still Chinese or Korean, and that idea that Fillipinas or Vietnamese women are more attractive or pretty seems to me a very East Asian Male thing, by which I mean a huge difference in aesthetic or sexual preference with say, white Canadian men. Fillipinas are butt ugly on average and seem a touch crazy or at least loopy. The Vietnamese girls I grew up with were very pretty and lovely people, but they were Viet Chin (ethnic Chinese). I haven't met enough ethnic Vietnamese to form an opinion, but unless they are way, way, way better looking than say, Cambodians, Thais or Laotians then I will still vote for Jpn women. Also, and I think it's a positive thing, lots of white guys prefer Japanese women because they're fellow First Worlders, so it's more a meeting of equals. Some are sad enough to actually think a Japanese woman is a meal ticket, but some Japanese women are sad enough to want to be that, so hopefully that ilk find each other. I prefer Jpn women over other Asians because I know them and I can speak to them, but I don't prefer them over any type of women like real Yellow Fever boys do.

I saw some very attractive girls in Vietnam but they were generally the taller lighter skinned wealthier ones so I'm assuming they were ethnically Chinese. There are plenty of cute girls in Japan and I think that they look better than Chinese and Korean girls on average but I've seen more drop dead gorgeous Chinese and Korean girls in my life than Japanese. That could be a style (and good teeth) thing though. Chinese girls have nicer asses too.

Personality wise I prefer dating Japanese girls over Korean and Chinese. Overall they seem to be lower maintenance and they have fewer sexual hang up. Korean girls are more fun to drink with though.
