As someone who's had a lifelong struggle with weight, I feel sorry for Ms. Bovine-rissole.
I hope she finds some peace of mind soon, but given the self-centered tinge of her lawsuit and TED speech, I suspect she may be of the disposition that ensures she will unlikely be unhappy whatever she does....

Maybe she put on some weight after joining.

Could be...though that level of fugly isn't dependent on weight :puke:

Yeah, but it seemed like the issue was her weight.

I dug around in her Facebook--There was one blurry (Photoshoped?) photo of her just after graduation from university and a couple of photos at work at Prada. She obviously is fixated on wearing layers of very unPrada lace as camouflage. She never tried fit the Prada "look," which is generally is considered dissing the fashion house where you work.

Well, I can admit when I'm wrong. She was no hottie before but not fugly either...the weight she put on definitely brought out the the fugly.

If you get past the fugly, this pretty much sums up what I think of her...

Her clothes were fugly and did nothing for her at any size.

Genetics you cannot help (and people shouldn't judge you on this) but you can make the most of what you were born with and she was doing herself no favours at all with her choices in clothing.

Made her tits look like udders...

Actually, this case has got me thinking. I guess it's reasonable to say she's ugly, toxic and wore horrible clothes: all inexcusable because she was working in the fashion industry. Does this mean, then, that the fashion industry is allowed to dismiss rules that we must all follow? If so, why? Doesn't make sense to me, but then again, power/sexual harassment cases don't either. Why can these also be prosecuted selectively? There does seem to be a double standard at work here.

Genetics can't be helped but her weight definitely could be. Can't really fault a company (regardless of industry)feeling embarrassed by the weight gain UNLESS she is in a position where she never sees customers/etc. Would feel the same way if she was a guy. TIJ, so the fatty stereotypes are that much more damning

That's sort of what I was getting at in my earlier post above about the gray areas. Back office: looks shouldn't matter for hiring. Modeling, Hooters girl, etc.: looks obviously matter. But what about those eikaiwa that say they want a blond gaijin with blue eyes for a teaching role? That gets a lot of people worked up but don't they also have an image to maintain? What about a receptionist, a server in a regular restaurant (i.e. not Hooters or Hanako), or a cashier at a convenience store? What if a person was in an accident that disfigured them? Would it be OK to fire them because you think that it might make some customers uncomfortable?

"In Japan, we don't fight for money, we fight for human rights."

:keyboardcoffee:

So she won her lawsuit in Japan...but I don't see anywhere how much she was awarded.

I want to see that number too... if Prada was counter suing for over 700K, i wonder what she can pull out of them?
