Kyodo via Yahoo:BBC urges magazine to withhold comment on emperor program until airing
The Tokyo bureau of the British Broadcasting Corp. said Wednesday it hopes that comments on a program it is making about the life of Japan's late Emperor Hirohito will be reserved until after it has been aired. The BBC was responding to an article in the weekly magazine Shukan Shincho that criticized the program despite the fact that it is still in production and not scheduled to be broadcast until later this year. Shukan Shincho claimed in its latest issue that the program is biased and produced in bad faith, citing views on the script's content of a person who was asked to be interviewed for the program. According to the BBC, the program is part of a series on historical events. The BBC said that production is still in the initial stages and judgments cannot be made at this point on the contents of the program as it will take several more months to complete. It said it has no intention of insulting the Japanese people in any way
