Revered in the same way as jewellery or fine wines, chocolate has reached a new level of luxury in Japan where impeccable storage and presentation are bringing forth sweet tooths who want to indulge their loved ones and themselves. A prestigious department store has set up what is billed as the world's first "chocolate cellar", where top-class European chocolate is stored in white ceramic pots at carefully regulated temperatures and humidity for owners who believe their treats deserve utmost respect...Satie Dominique Chocolat, housed in the Mitsukoshi department store in central Tokyo's Nihonbashi area, last October invited 90 people to keep their chocolate at the cellar - a partitioned wall sealed with glass in the back of the shop..."Chocolate has become a key item in a woman's life just like fashion products," a spokesperson said....more...
