Australia's turn to protect Japan's sorry ass

Postby Captain Japan » Tue Feb 22, 2005 12:58 pm

Can someone tell me what the GSDF are doing in Iraq?
Australia to send 450 more troops to Iraq to protect Japan troops
SYDNEY, Feb. 22, Kyodo - Prime Minister John Howard said Tuesday that Australia will send 450 more troops to southern Iraq to help protect Japanese forces involved in humanitarian relief and maintain security.

Howard said he made the decision after receiving a phone call from Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi last Friday.

About 600 Japanese troops are now performing humanitarian and reconstruction work in the southern Iraqi city of Samawah. Restricted by the Constitution, the troops are not involved in maintaining security and thus have been depending on Dutch troops for their safety.

But the Dutch troops are slated to leave Samawah by mid-March.

I remember a thread where the locals were complaining because they didn't see the Japanese doing much.. Aren't they doing water purification, road building, Koizumi PR work?

It's kind of funny they have to be protected.. Then they walk around with red and white targets plastered everywhere.. Wait. That's not funny.

I have this unshakable belief that the Japanese could snap at any moment and become a war-machine way beyond anything they did in WW2 (which wasn't a small feat in itself) America no longer has the factory production capacity to rapidly prepare for war.

Japan has the infrastructure
They can get the resources
Most importantly they have the "bee-colony" mindset. All those middle aged ladies marching for peace today could easily be out tomorrow building ICBM rocket launchers.

i agree with GJ on this one.........after the horrors of the past the people f japan are not going to be so quick to undertake the demands of their country. I do think that they would be very capable of defnding themselves, however i doubt they could wage a war.....the powers are too great

Word up.
Koizumi furious after cowardly cop runs away from man with baseball bat
Mainichi
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi made an unusual angry outburst on Tuesday after seeing a police officer flee from a bat-wielding man in a news program.

"I watched a scene in which a police officer fled from a criminal. It's disgraceful for an officer to act like that," Koizumi reportedly said during Tuesday's Cabinet meeting.

The prime minister said that the fleeing officer should be warned over his cowardly behavior.

Why would anyone want to attack Japan? What's to gain, except good slave labour?

No pussy shortage, but one sees one's own country women on a pedastal and the enemy's women as disposable furniture during war.

EDITORIAL: SDF in Samawah
Asahi
Would staying longer benefit Iraq and Japan?

Australia has pledged to provide 450 troops to help guarantee the safety of Self-Defense Forces personnel stationed in Samawah, Iraq. Canberra made the offer to compensate for the scheduled withdrawal in March of Dutch forces.

Britain, which had agreed to take over security duties from the Netherlands, asked Australia to pitch in. And Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi also contacted his Australian counterpart, John Howard, to solicit his support.

Given the closeness of Japan's relations with the Bush administration, it would be difficult to withdraw the SDF. In Japan, meantime, there has been growing public concern about the security situation in Samawah after the Dutch withdrawal in March. Koizumi must feel relieved.

However, the public is not just concerned about the safety of the SDF. The dispatch of Japanese troops resulted from unreasonable legislation. Maintaining a troop presence in Iraq comes at great expense to taxpayers. Just how effective is the Japanese troop presence in advancing Iraq's reconstruction? How much longer must troops remain? Does the government have an exit strategy? There is growing public concern about these issues....the rest...

What, like the H2-A deep ocean search probe?

I think if Japan launched a BabaKrieg on China, airdropping massive numbers of obatarians on Beijing, the Japanese might have a change.

Aussies protecting Japanese

Postby Mennon » Thu Mar 03, 2005 5:00 pm

Howard is a cocksucker, I agree, but he's doing what he's told, which is the only option any Australian Prime Minister has, even if that fuck-up Latham was the PM.
60 years of protection from the US, thirty years of Japan being the No.1 importer of Australian goods equals "How many? Where? Certainly sir."
It's going to take decades of consistent foreign policy for Australia to become even remotely independant, and now that everyone has two investment properties and million-dollar mortages and massive credit-cards debts, you think anyone's eager for change? The nation shits its collective pants if there's a 1/4% interest rate hike.
Protection? 400 troops is a small price to pay to cover Australia's massive, obese, lazy, up-to-its-eyeballs-in-debt ass (I know asses don't have eyeballs BTW).
