Excavator crashes through roof of Tokyo subway station entrance
The arm of an excavator loaded on a trailer crashed through the roof of a Tokyo subway station entrance Monday night, police said. Nobody was injured in the incident. Police are questioning the 38-year-old driver of the truck that was pulling the trailer over the cause of the accident. At around 9:30 p.m., the arm of an excavator loaded on a trailer hit the roof of one of the entrances to Toranomon Station on the Ginza Subway Line, local police said...Near the station are the Finance Ministry, the Japan Post and major office buildings. Thieves use excavator to steal ATM containing 30 million

HOKUTO, Yamanashi -- Thieves used an excavator to steal an automatic teller machine (ATM) containing about 30 million yen from a booth installed at a supermarket parking lot here early Thursday, police said.

An alarm system went off at the ATM booth of Yamanashi Chuo Bank installed at a supermarket parking lot in the Nagasaka district of Hokuto in the predawn hours of Thursday, local police said.

Alerted by the security company that monitors the system, police officers rushed to the scene at around 3 a.m. to find an ATM had been stolen. They found an excavator believed to have been used to destroy the ATM in the parking lot....the rest...
