Kazuyoshi Nakanishi, a House of Representatives member of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of indecently assaulting a woman, the police said. Nakanishi, 40, is suspected of pressing himself against a 22-year-old woman and indecently touching her on a street in Tokyo's Roppongi entertainment district at around 2 a.m. Thursday, they said. According to the police, he said he was drunk and does not remember what he did...According to the police, Nakanishi assaulted the woman while her companion, 23, was talking on a mobile phone. He then entered a bar some 30 meters away. The woman reported the incident to a patrolling officer, leading to the arrest of the lawmaker at the bar. He was not wearing his Diet member's badge at that time, the police said.

Investigators accuse Nakanishi of suddenly grabbing the 22-year-old woman on a street in Tokyo's Roppongi district at about 2:05 a.m. on Thursday, forcing her against a wall, putting his hand inside her clothes and fondling her breasts.

I was about an hour from seeing this live. He sounds more drunk than I was though.

When the woman resisted him, Nakanishi walked off by himself, police said. The woman alerted police who were at a murder scene nearby, and officers found Nakanishi in a bar about 10 minutes later by himself about 30 meters away and immediately arrested him. Police said he did not know the woman.

Lawmaker resigns over groping arrest

Kazuyoshi Nakanishi, a Lower House member of the Liberal Democratic Party, tendered his resignation Thursday over his arrest the previous night for alleged indecent assault on a woman on a street in Tokyo's Roppongi nightclub district.

Nakanishi, 40, allegedly pressed himself against a 22-year-old woman, reached inside her dress and grabbed her left breast at around 2 a.m. in "High Touch Town," as the seamy nightclub district is famously known by the sign over Roppongi Crossing.

Nakanishi says he was drunk at the time and can't remember anything, police said.

He was quoted later as telling police: "I feel sorry for the victim. I did an unbelievable thing. I regret it."

It is interest to contrast Nakanishi to Yamasaki (who in my books is simply evil). I can only assume that because Nakanishi is a relatively junior member of parliament it is much easier to toss him.

Kazuyoshi Nakanishi, the House of Representative member who was arrested for drunkenly molesting a woman in the predawn hours of Thursday, has vowed never to drink again.

In a news conference at a Tokyo hotel on Friday the 40-year-old Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) member said, "I plan never to drink again for the rest of my life."

According to ZakZak (Japanese), just before the groping incident, Nakanishi went to an izakaya run by Mariya Yamada's father. He was drunk and couldn't order for himself so the manager suggested the house special - "sexy chahan"



Shortly after, Nakanishi apparently stripped to his black boxer shorts and looked for his own sausage. The staff got him out of the restaurant and they reckon he must have groped the girl shortly afterwards. They are considering removing the dish from the menu in case it inspires any more sexual assaults.

Politicians cannot be arrested once they are identified as such, but Nakanishi wasn't wearing his LDP badge and was arrested on the spot, the first politician for that to happen to.

I don't get this. So, a politician could rob a bank and not be arrested if he identified himself as an politician?

That is priceless - wonder how much truth is involved or whether it is just a publicty stunt for the Izakaya? (Oh I am way too young to be this cynical)

DPJ employee busted for molesting woman on subway

An employee of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) has been arrested for molesting a woman on a Tokyo subway train on Wednesday morning, police said Thursday.

Tetsuya Nojima, 36, is accused of violating the Tokyo metropolitan ordinance prohibiting people from creating a nuisance.

Nojima admitted to the allegations during questioning. "I'm sorry about what I did," he was quoted as telling investigators.

At around 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Nojima fondled the hip of a vocational school student in her 20s on a local train on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line, police said. (Mainichi)
