Disruptions in Kansai area due to manipulative phone scheme

These companies are really annoying. One of them rang my phone at 1:30 the other night!

In a scheme known in Japan as "wangiri,"



Wangiri, I think comes from the English "one" and kiri (cut) ie to cut off after one ring.

Unless pressured to do, NTT has no incentive to stop this type of spam. Even if only a small percentage of the deceived call back, every call is still money in the bank for NTT...

Still, meiwaku mail persists anyway. The only thing they've done is allow users to change certain settings (their email address, designated acceptable domain names, etc) in order to throw off the meiwaku mail companies. But if one of their computers manages to discover your email address....get ready for serious spam bombing!
