Is there hope for bonehead monolinguals?

Adults can be retrained to learn second languages more easily ...
Medical News Today, UK - 15 June
Our ability to hear and understand a second language becomes more and more difficult with age, but the adult brain can be retrained to pick up foreign sounds more easily again. This finding, reported by Dr Paul Iverson of the UCL Centre for Human Communication, at the "Plasticity in Speech Perception 2005"... The study tested 63 native Japanese subjects in Japan and London, and had them complete a 10-session training course....more...

So not only are they giving you sponge baths but they are also feeding you medical journals. While retraining my brain to speak Japanese might (or might not be) a good thing, I think it would be better if someone retrained me to think. I haven't done it donkey's years. :P
