Asahi: Local authorities to demolish a slice of central Osaka's past
The Osaka prefectural government is set to bulldoze Osaka's oldest school building, the former Aijitsu Elementary School, and one of the most important links to the central city's bookish past. Local authorities, in cooperation with Mitsui Fudosan Co. and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co, are planning to turn the 7,000-square-meter site in the Yodoyabashi district into a 70-meter-high shopping and office complex...The building was home to the Osaka City Promotion Association until March this year...more...

Built in 1929.
How did the bombers miss this place. Wasn't downtown Osaka flattened during the war?

I'm sorry to say that place is a slum. It could be restored to it's "former" glory and it would be a dump. Yokohama "Red Brick Warehouses" were restored...80% of the bricks were reset and the interiors were improved to the point they now are semi-usable---only semi-usable because the final cost and rental for stores does not begin to cover the zillion yen a year loss on the investment. The open space provided by the Reb Brick Warehouses does make it worthwhile but this Osaka slum school doesn't offer that advantage.

Are they still running a school in there?
Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms should be the name of a store, not a government agency.

Seems not
