In Japan, scientists create tallest tsunamiAP, Thursday 30 June
YOKOSUKA:
At the far end of a long trough, a bulge of water appears. Seconds later, the wave rips through the wall of a room with such fury it splinters the wall and washes away the furniture and a mannequin standing behind it. I saw clip of this on TV. Wasn't much too it as the wave crashed through the walls and washed the remains to the end of the tank.
Not sure what scientific benefit they got from this other than that tsunamis are dangerous.
Probably would have been fun smashing up the houde models though. Getting payed for for play time... :D

Geologically, these studies are important as identifying tsunami deposits is useful in determining site risk.

Because large scale tsunamis are exceeding rare it is a good exercise to see if there are ways in which one can increase one's possiblity of survival if one is caught in one. Very few practical survival tip exist at present.

The exercise looks sensational (or not) but it does have some very real practical applications.
