Will Blinky seek damages for torn fishing net by Russia Sub?

Postby Greji » Sun Aug 07, 2005 1:35 pm

Will Blinky seek damages for torn fishing net by Russia Sub? The net was located in the Pacific Ocean, all of which is claimed by Japan.

J-self defense rescure efforts were estimated to have taken four days (if attempted). I would assume this was held up over immigration concerns of the crew members and whether or not they had alien registrtion cards.

"....Trapped sub surfaces, crew safe

Sunday, August 7, 2005 Posted: 0358 GMT (1158 HKT)
MOSCOW, Russia (CNN) -- A Russian submarine that had been trapped nearly 190 meters (625 feet) below the surface of the Pacific Ocean was raised Sunday, and all seven crew members are alive, a spokesman for the U.S. Pacific Fleet has confirmed.

The sub was raised about 4:20 p.m. (3:20 a.m. GMT).

A U.S. Navy doctor on board a Russian ship was evaluating the conditions of the Russian crew, John Yoshishige said.

The sub apparently had been entangled since Thursday in a fishing net, he said.

The sub had been stuck in Berezovaya Bay, 70 kilometers (43 miles) south of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on Russia's far eastern coast.

The process began Sunday of trying to lift the sub as fears grew over dwindling air supplies for the crew.

About noon Sunday (7 p.m. ET Saturday), a British crew lowered an unmanned rescue vehicle called a Scorpio 45 into the water in an attempt to free the sub from cables or fishing nets that had pinned it underwater.

The Scorpio was equipped with three cameras and cable-cutting equipment.

A Russian ship then attached cables to the submarine in preparation for pulling it up, according to the press service for the Russian Pacific Fleet in Vladivostok.

The minisub got snagged in deep waters off Russia's east coast Thursday.

Initial reports said the propeller of the sub, the AS-28, became caught on some fishing nets or cable. However, Interfax reported the sub snagged an anchor cable of a coastal observation aerial.

The sub incident comes almost five years after the giant Russian nuclear submarine Kursk sank in the icy waters of the Barents Sea. All 118 crew members aboard died.

Russian authorities were slow to ask for international assistance during the Kursk mishap; this time they promptly asked for help.

Officials said the Russian navy immediately tried to get in contact with the U.S. Pacific Fleet...."

Blinky's plan

Postby homesweethome » Sun Aug 07, 2005 3:56 pm

Don't worry, Blinky knew what he was doing when he dispatched the Japanese rescue team.

It is hard to imagine them failing, but just in case he had his own plan to call in help from the FG.

I think Arnold already has a J-passport left over from the last time he came to Japan and forgot his.

The net he wasn't worried about, cause he has a surplus supply to catch rioting gaijin in the next big shake up.

Apology duly noted. :hehe:

Also, missing in action is the Soviet Supreme, who must bew truly mortified at the use of Her Majesty's and the US Pacific fleet to rescue a former soviet vessel caught in what was probably their own cables.

gboothe is very correct

Soviet Navy stinks
Image

they always had crap ships,
Norweigans, British, Japanese, India and French had much better ships than Russia

However what always made Russia one of the most deadly forces on Earth was their long range ICBM missiles, bombers, MIRV Nukes, space technology and fighter aircraft
in order to modernise their military after WW2
Ruskies skipped build a good Navy and good ships
but instead moved into Space-technology - missiles, spy-satellites...
and space is where future battles depend for victory

they also have a strong infantry and a shit load of armored vehicles and tanks

Russian Soviets even built a Shuttle
but quickly dumped it as the USSR was going bankrupt
and the Shuttle design was never very safe anyway

A lot of worry comes from the fact that high-tech Russian techonlogy may one day fall into Taliban or Jihad hands

Seven people on a Russian mini-submarine were rescued Sunday when a remote-controlled vehicle cut away undersea cables
A British vehicle helped free the Ruskie sub
seems the Iraq fiasco has made the US response a bit slower

Our Basic Understanding of Russian Military Capabilities is:

The Basis Of The Russian Military is:

Which if you understand leads to:

Which unfortunately leads to the conclusion:

And Ultimately:

Understanding is really quite simple.
Why does everything have to be so complicated
