Worker stole $9 mln from customers, Japan bank says
Aug 26, 2005, TOKYO (Reuters) -An employee at Japan's second-biggest bank stole $9 million (5 million pounds) from customers over 12 years before complaints from her victims led to her discovery, the bank and government officials said on Friday.
The 54-year-old woman, a contract worker, sold non-existent investment products to 10-20 customers of the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, pocketing the money and making periodic "interest" payments to avoid detection...more...
