A pretty sad FG case.
I guess the mods can move it if it doesn't belong here.
Newsflash 2005 September 12:
The Aug 8 date in family court for trying to secure visitation for Yamila with her daughter ended in the father nor his lawyer showing up. The court received a letter from the father's lawyer saying that there was no point in showing up since Yamila's visa was due to end on 26 August. Of course Yamila's visa has been extended as per schedule, so it was simply an avoidance tactic.
The current court date on 27 September is possibly the last one in the charges of forgery against the father. He is accused of signing Yamila's name onto the Japanese divorce document which also gives him full custody of their daughter. Yamila was not in Japan at the time the document was signed and witnessed and submitted to the ward office. So it would seem straightforward enough. Also a handwriting expert has submitted a report. However, there is some cause to believe that the court will find some way to support the status quo and ignore the evidence. In an effort to show the court that it is being watched, and that lots of people are paying attention to what is going on there, we hope for a big show of support from the foreign community on Yamila's behalf.
All information regarding how to get there, time, place is included below.

The nearest station is MATSUDO on the Joban-sen. You can transfer to the Joban-sen at either Ueno station or Nishi-Nippori station and it is approx. 30 minutes from Tokyo.
From Matsudo Station take the East Exit. Turn Left and you'll pass a park on the right and you'll pass an apartment and turn left after the apartment and go straight. the court house is on the right. It's a 7 minute walk from Matsudo station.
A second set of (possibly better) instructions:
Take the Higashi-guchi exit (East exit) and turn Left. Go straight and you'll pass a park on your left then you'll come to a stop light with an apartment building on the left side of the road. Turn Left onto this one-way road an go up a hill and the court house is a 5 story building on the right.
I am willing to meet people at the Matsudo station exit and we can walk together. Cornelia <ckurz@tokyowithkids.com>
