The centenarian who wasn't

Postby dimwit » Mon Oct 10, 2005 11:08 pm

In an example of less than careful record keeping the Arakawa Ward office was forced to ax 'centenarian's' residency registration.

From the Yomiuri:

The residency registration of a missing 110-year-old Tokyo woman who recently was listed by the government as the nation's 19th-oldest person, will be deleted 40 years after her disappearance, Arakawa Ward Office said Tuesday.

Her family registration also is likely to be deleted from local government records in the Kanto region after the ward office reports the cancellation of her residency registration...

The ward office decided to cancel the woman's residency registration after consulting with the daughter-in-law, who also declined the ward office's offer to search for the woman.

I'm just trying to imagine what they would have done if she took them up on the offer. :P
