Good for them.
They better go all the way.
Let them spoil Hanshin's league championship celebration.

Not quite. They got rid of Kiyohara and Rhodes.. and they are going to trim more pork out of their lineup.

I'm not a huge fan anyway, so not too concerned one way or another. Being from Kansai of course I would like the Tigers to do well -- anything better than the Giants is "well". ;)

As for the Giants' performance next year...well, time will tell. I guess they can't get too much worse than they were this year though!

Do you recall when Hara was around before?

Do you recall the saying "History repeats itself"?

Could there have been a reason no one else would give him a job managing, or coaching in the interim?

I wouldn't hold my breath for their roaring come back next year!

I'd love to see them with a worse record than Rakuten.

That would be great. It is interesting to note that Hara was one of the people on Marty's short list for the manager of Rakuten. He by-passed him and hired Tao!

Hope that doesn't hurt Tommie's dreams!

 You're a cruel man! (But yeah, that would be damn fine to see! Maybe next year... Sink Giants sink!!!)

Yeah under his first year managing, he brought the Giants to the J series.

You guys hate the Gomiuri Giants for the same reason everyone loves or hates the NY Yankees. They are good.. actually more like in past tense though.

St. Louis comes back

Postby Greji » Tue Oct 18, 2005 12:51 pm

Albert Puljos hit a three run home run in the 9th to send Huston/St Louis to game six.

Nice.. Don't like the Asstros much; Clemens is a moody bitch.. In fact, can't stand the White Sox either; Everett is a punk and Ozzie annoys me.. Looks like I'll be hoping both teams lose in the World Series.. ;)

Actually, I think I'm more interested in the Japan Series this year.. Uh, oh. I feel a 'you've been in Japan too long' moment coming on.. 8O

Then what? He wasn't canned for J series victories!

Who is anti-giants? I'm just giving you a fact. Unless they can get their front line pictchers gengi, they are next year again, going to have their shit removed by the bootfull and it won't matter if they have Gunga Din managing!

No, actually it has nothing to do with being good... It's just cause they are the Giants.

(Their attitude that if you spend enough money you can build a good team probably pisses off a lot of people too though.)

Um, no, you mean Matsui brought the team to the series. Giants with Matsui = champions. Giants with "The Statue" Kyohara et crew = losers. Now without their wannabe-yakuza boss man, the Giants are classless and winless.

Hara's coverage of the Ladies World Cup of Golf was pretty good though.

Hara Tatsu what? Nori?

He probably ought to stay in casting as a profession. His major attraction is that he succeeded Nakahata as head of the players' association (read union) and the media has attempted to keep him afloat after that.

He took over a winning team and as Tommie noted, won his first J series. He then successfully guided them downward until the Oni of baseball in Japan, nabeyakiundon fired him.

Insiders claim that he is like Nagashima the golden boy. Everybody's favorite on camera and an asshole in person and as a manager. Nagashima did the same team leadership thing and took them down to schmooze with the cellar dwellers. He was fired and then brought back (he is the golden boy afterall) and started winning 80 games or so, a year with talent that should have been winning 120 games a year.

The hope is to do the same with Hara on his second coming. We shall see!

The Hanshin pitching was shite, but I was impressed with Imae on Lotte. What was he? 11 for 14 in the series?.. Impressive.
