I'm not a huge fan anyway, so not too concerned one way or another. Being from Kansai of course I would like the Tigers to do well -- anything better than the Giants is "well".

As for the Giants' performance next year...well, time will tell. I guess they can't get too much worse than they were this year though!

Um, no, you mean Matsui brought the team to the series. Giants with Matsui = champions. Giants with "The Statue" Kyohara et crew = losers. Now without their wannabe-yakuza boss man, the Giants are classless and winless.

He took over a winning team and as Tommie noted, won his first J series. He then successfully guided them downward until the Oni of baseball in Japan, nabeyakiundon fired him.

Insiders claim that he is like Nagashima the golden boy. Everybody's favorite on camera and an asshole in person and as a manager. Nagashima did the same team leadership thing and took them down to schmooze with the cellar dwellers. He was fired and then brought back (he is the golden boy afterall) and started winning 80 games or so, a year with talent that should have been winning 120 games a year.

The hope is to do the same with Hara on his second coming. We shall see!
