
Korean relic returns home from Japan after century

News via AFP, Wed Oct 19,11:39 PM ET, SEOUL --- The Bukgwandaecheopbi monument, an 18th century Korean stone relic, is set to arrive home from Japan, a century after it was taken by Japanese troops to a Tokyo war shrine... Yasukuni shrine in Tokyo, which has possessed the monument since it was taken there by Japanese troops in 1905 from its original location at Kilju, now in North Korea....
The Bukgwandaecheopbi was set up in Kilju in 1707 to commemorate Jeong Mun-Bu, a general who led Korea's Chosun Dynasty army to victory over Japanese troops during a seven-year war which began in 1592.
