It is more usually found in dodgy pubs as landlords try to drum up a bit of extra trade on quiet nights - but now vicars are bringing karaoke to church. The HT-300 Hymnal Plus, an ecclesiastical 'karaoke machine', is being promoted as a replacement for the traditional church organist. The Croydon-based company behind the machine - Hymn Technology - says the device is especially useful for rural churches which are struggling to find organists...One of the first churches to test the Hymnal Plus was St Mary the Virgin in Mudford, Somerset...Churchwarden Bill Watkins, who has been put in charge of the machine, added: 'It is quite a responsibility but I do take requests'...more...
