ZAMA, Kanagawa --A U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class has been arrested for a drunken attack on a police officer just hours, Zama Police Station said. Brandon Victor Irwin, 21, the sailor stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier, was arrested for obstructing a special public officer and for willful destruction of property.
A 43-year-old police sergeant Irwin is accused of grabbing was not hurt in the fracas.
Police said they received a call from a convenience store employee in Zama late on Saturday night who was worried about a drunken sailor swaggering around on the streets creating a nuisance.
Officers arrived on the scene and took Irwin into their protection, but he responded by grasping the police sergeant and vandalizing the interior of a police patrol car..more...
