Kyodo via Crisscross: Court cancels state's deportation order for Pakistani man
The Nagoya District Court on Thursday canceled the state's deportation order against a Pakistani man, judging his marriage with a Japanese woman to be legitimate. The Nagoya Regional Immigration Bureau ordered the man, 33, living in Nagoya, to leave Japan in March 2005 as it recognized his marriage to the 50-year-old woman did not stand because he had a wife in Pakistan then. The man, however, was in the process of filing for divorce from his wife in Pakistan when he married the Japanese woman, and thus the bureau's recognition was wrong, Presiding Judge Naofumi Nakamura said.
