Japanese Zero Now at Pearl Harbor

KGMB9 News wrote:
Sixty-five years after [Zero] fighter planes filled Hawaii's sky, one of them is back on the ground.

"It's the first time a Zero has returned to Pearl Harbor full-time since the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941," said Allan Palmer, CEO of the Pacific Aviation Museum.

The Pacific Aviation Museum bought the plane for just under a million dollars. The Japanese Zero is so rare, only a handful remain in the world.

This particular plane did not attack Pearl Harbor, but it's the exact type witnesses saw that day in the sky. The plane is in pieces now, but it will soon be put together and painted to look like a fighter jet that crashed in Hawaii during the war.

"We've done a lot of research on the actual remains of this airplane that crashed on Niihau to get the paint color exactly right," Palmer said . . . more

Sounds like "KGMB9 News" needs to do a bit more research if they think that the Zero was a jet fighter.

(Not the actual Zero bought, but you'll notice a propeller at the front)

From the article:

"We've done a lot of research on the actual remains of this airplane that crashed on Niihau to get the paint color exactly right," Palmer said.

The story of the Niihau Zero is extremely interesting and may well of had a influence on the interment of Japanese Americans during the war.

The story is here

Nice find, dimwit.

. . . In Honolulu, we said: "Warn the Japanese not to shoot Hawaiians more than twice. The third time, they get mad!"

I read about that story in Day of Infamy by Walter Lord.
