Barbie doll syringes wash up on Japanese beach

Postby Taro Toporific » Sun Aug 20, 2006 10:44 am

I like the way those fun-loving Moonies at UPI plagiarized this unlicensed story from the Mainichi and copied the engrish mistakes of 2-3cm syringes (not syringe needles). :p [floatr]Image[/floatr]
More needles wash up on Japan's beaches
United Press International /Aug. 19, 2006 at 5:37PM
.... a large number of syringes bearing English and Chinese markings have been washing up in Yamaguchi as well as Saga and Fukuoka prefectures since earlier this month. A fisherman walking on a beach in Shimonoseki found a large number of the syringes floating in the sea, the newspaper said. He recovered what he could and reported the find to the Shimonoseki Coast Guard Office. Each of the syringes measures between 2 and 3 centimeters long (a centimeter is about 4/10 of an inch).
Hundreds of syringe needles found wash up on Yamaguchi beach
Mainichi / August 19, 2006
....A fisherman walking on a beach in Shimonoseki found a massive number of syringes floating in the sea and recovered them, according to the JCG's Shimonoseki Coast Guard Office. Each one measures between 2.5 and 3 centimeters long.

Last Saturday I was at the beach in Tango (Kyoto Pref.) with Mrs. amdg and found a syringe needle lying in the sand. I wasn't sure what to do with it, but I couldn't leave it there so I put it in a large pet bottle and went looking for more (the flotsam gomi was all lined up at the high-tide mark). Sure enough, I found about 5 needles, and there must have been more around. There were also a lot of pipettes and vials washed up so I guess it was some kind of medical/scientific spill out in the Japan sea.
:-( :puke:
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

Sadly, most likely that spill was actually dumping of your local yakuza med-waste hauling company. The unmarked trucks I've seen hauling from the hospital are manned by some of the most interesting-looking "garbagemen" I've ever seen in Japan wearing too short flip-flops with heels and rayon-silk shirts.

Well if they are dumping those floating syringe needles out in the sea, knowing that they're just going to be washed back onto the beaches where kids can walk all over them, all I can say is ... motherfuckers.
